This question was asked on May 21st on the Heroes Blog.
What is Uluru?
Tim Kring: For those paying close attention, the first time we saw this image was in the pilot on the cover of the 9th Wonders book that Micah was reading and that character lives in the world of 9th Wonders. When and how we will deal with who that character is has yet to be decided in the writer's room.

I kind of think there are three groups a work. Group A wants to save the world by bringing it together through a major event that will cost many lives. Group B wants to save the world by any means that doesn't involve killing lots of people. Group C wants death destruction your basic bad guy stuff.
Linderman and Peter's mom are the heads of Group A. Samone's dad and Hiro's dad are the heads of Group B. The guy even scarier than Sylar is the head of Group C.

The following was posted in the thread for the episode before the finale:
Anyway, I didn't watch a single episode of Heroes as it aired this season, although I've downloaded each and every episode. The main reason is that I didn't want to start watching a show only to have it canceled, and as time went by and I started to notice how popular it was becoming and that it wasn't going to be canceled afterall, I decided to hold off on watching the episodes until the season was over so that I would have something to watch over the Summer. Well, I finally started watching the episodes on, I believe, Friday, and here it is Monday and I've watched every single episode of the season.
When I started, I simply could not stop. Not even Lost does as good a job of making you look forward to the next episode, not even The Shield does it as great as Heroes did this season. So here I am, now without any new episodes of Heroes to watch.
I understand the complaints about the finale, but I understand why they did it all. This season was only meant to build up all of the various characters, not to build to a huge finale. That might not make too much sense, but I have a feeling that this series is meant to build to the end of the series as a whole. The plot for this season was to introduce all of the characters, and to stop the destruction of New York. There most certainly was closure to this season, and it happened when they saved NY, when they saved the cheerleader to save the world.
Now the stage is set for even larger battles, more power to be revealed. The best is most certainly yet to come. I have a feeling as the series continues, as seasons go by, it'll only get more and more epic. They couldn't, and they should've have, went totally all out in the very first season. The ending to this season was fitting for what this show seems to be all about at this point.
Two of my favorite moments of the season both involved Mr. Bennet. The first was his goodbye to Claire a few episodes back, and the other was in the episode last week:
"What am I thinking now Parkman?" - Thompson to Parkman
"Your last thought!" *shoots him in the head two times*- Bennet to Thompson
I can't wait for the second season!

Any bets that he swoops in on the fight between Sylar and Peter, just as Sylar is about to go BOOM, taking him up into the atmosphere, and sacrifices himself in the process to save his brother, and the city?

1. Almost every episode this year was focused towards the final moments of the season and the battle to "save the world," which was then executed more pathetically than I ever could have imagined.
2. The idea of building the characters for next season was a recent development, with the claim from the beginning being that season 1 was going to have closure for this story line and that season 2 was going to be about a whole new batch of heroes, thus worsening the extremely sloppy and tacked on feeling of the finale.

I just don't see the reason to hate it as much as some people do. Sure it wasn't as great as most thought it would be, but I really think it was done on purpose, to continue a build for the show overall. From the start everything has been sorta, I dunno how to explain it really, but you could tell everyone was just getting used to their powers. No one really knew what to do next, and they were mainly just going along with it all. Because of that, the lackluster ending of this single season makes sense to me. Now that they have a better understanding of everything that they are capable of, things will get better.
I'd hate for some people to turn on the show just because of the finale of this season, since I'd be willing to bet that things are going to get far more epic and grand as things progress.
On another note, I take it that Hiro's father has the power of living for a long ass time, immortal or the such.

Not sure if it's been posted already, but Tim Kring did an interview for Comic-Con International (CCI) 2007. Part of the interview, they asked about the next season:
CCI: What do viewers have to look forward to in volume two?
TK: Volume two may not last an entire season. It will pick up a few of the questions that will be left hanging in volume one. But you can look forward to the introduction of a new character and a villain and the idea of the show having a kind of global feel is only increased in volume two.
CCI: When you say volume two will not be an entire season, do you mean you'll start volume three in the next season?
TK: Yes, volume three will start in the middle of the season or toward the end of the season. There is a complete season next year, with about 23 episodes, but the idea is that the show is told in volumes and each one is sort of looked at as one book in a series of books, and then we move on to another volume. This allows us to not get caught up in one giant story that needs to be dragged on. One of the lessons we've learned from other shows is that that you can't (let the show) get wrapped up so tightly around itself that it doesn't have any breathing room left. You can't introduce any new concepts because you're so busy on the freight train that is that story. The story becomes a big giant engine that gets harder and harder to hop off.
