Looks like CBS will just tell everyone how it would have ended:
CBS responds to 'Jericho' fans: We'll let you know how it would have ended By Maria Elena Fernandez, Times Staff Writer We were on to the "Lost" legion and "Heroes" worshippers, but who knew there were also "Jericho" junkies? A "Jericho" online movement is afoot to bring back the just-canceled CBS drama, starring Skeet Ulrich. The show, which explored the aftermath of nuclear attacks in the U.S., seemed like it was going to be one of the TV season's hits, but a large chunk of its audience disappeared during its winter hiatus. CBS, like the rest of the networks, announced its fall lineup last week, and the network decided to cancel "Jericho" because the show had "lost its engine," CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler said. Since then, passionate "Jericho" fans have organized and bombarded the network with letters and e-mails that state feelings, such as, "This show has touched us like no other before" and "CBS has cast aside a gem in Jericho." An online petition, www.jericholives.com, already has 60,000 signatures. One fan even wrote a Bring Back Jericho poem and posted it at jericholives.com/fight.htm. Tassler was so moved by the response that she posted a letter to the fans on www.cbs.com, her spokesman, Chris Ender, said. "She was touched by the letters and e-mails she's received because they each had independent voices," Ender said. "It was not an organized cookie-cutter type campaign. She was touched by the thoughtfulness of the response and wanted to directly respond to them." In the letter, Tassler told the fans that she also loved the show: "We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the 'Jericho' story." CBS executives will meet this week to discuss how the network can let the fans know how the "Jericho" story would have ended. |
This movement is going to face a huge hurdle as the actors, and crew aren't going to wait around for a CBS phone call to green light another season/mini-series. Most likely if nothing happens very soon, pretty much all or none of the people associated with this show will be available.
|
Hey if Skeet is busy they could always get Johnny Depp.
|
I really hope that cbs either does a mini series or by some chance in hell another network picks this up but i have a funny feeling we'll just end up with a "Lost Experience" like web site at best. Oh well, like when you break up with your girlfriend, chalk it up as just not meant to be.

True but it's not like any of these actors are name actors in high demand. |
I'm curious about Roswell. A few people have mentioned that show. Was it officially cancelled (like Jericho) and then brought back after cancellation?
|
Wow, some nut company is taking donations and sending CBS thousands of pounds of nuts.

In for $5. BTW - there was no shipping. :) I think they're "pooling" the orders and just delivering bulk boxes of nuts.
|
I doubt we will get a mini series or anything like that, more like a website with a rough idea of what happens next season, kinda like what they did for Smith

Didn't Veronica Mars, back in season 1, get brought back through letters? Or maybe it was the threat of cancellation that never went through because of letters.

This YouTube link turned up on the CBS board. Apparently the video was prepared by the producers of the show before the cancellation notice came out. I hope the "Season 2" at the end turns out to be prophetic and not just wishful thinking. And for those keeping score, nutsonline.com has now delivered over 11,000 lbs. of nuts to CBS. Why has David Letterman not jumped into this one already ? :) |

By the way, the nutsonline thing is going gangbusters - they've sold over 16,000 lbs of nuts... They've even got videos of the nuts being delivered.
http://www.nutsonline.com/jericho Starting to get media attention and all kinds of traction. No word yet from CBS. Keep the pressure on. |

I don't know about not being in much real danger . . . I just remember Kristen Bell on one of those talk shows (probably Kimmel) talking about how they were going to cancel it but there were a bunch of rabid fans which prevented that from happening. |

If this doesn't work, round two should be to send bull testicles to CBS.

I do know It is a consortium of stations owned by CBS and company, its just not called CBS. In NY it is referred to as WWOR Ch 9 , and was known as the previously defunct UPN, I don't visit the station anymore, but it exists on my dial, I am sure its the same with everywhere else UPN used to exists. They showed misc sucky telenovels over the past season It's a good spot to thrown Jericho and other nurturing shows that don't make CBS' 10 million viewer quota. That is what I am trying to say. |

They showed misc sucky telenovels over the past season CBS co-owns (along with Warner Bros.) The CW, which in NYC is on WPIX ch. 11 (owned by Tribune). Neither station is owned by CBS. The only NYC station owned by CBS is the actual CBS affiliate. |

CBS has cancelled a few decently rated shows in the last few years. But what suprised me is why another network doesn't pick up some of these shows. I mean, couldn't Fox or NBC make more money on Jericho than developing some show they'll just cancel in three weeks (actually only Fox will likely cancel the show that soon, NBC will try harder).

Someone on another forum brought up a good point. Why are they sending nuts? Would sending salt be more appropriate?

because of skeet's built-up line in the finale. NUTS!

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/jericho/videos.php - and watch the season finale (episode 22) ? In fact, while you're there go ahead and watch all 22 episodes in order and find out for yourself what all the fuss is about ? You'll be writing CBS some hate mail and sending them peanuts before Memorial Day :) |

That's a nice video. What song is that and who sings it it's a good song.

<u>from NY Times - May 29, 2007:</u>
<i>Soon after CBS said this month that it had canceled the drama series "Jericho," angry fans started sending individual bags of nuts to executives at the network's offices in New York and Los Angeles as a protest. Then the nuts started arriving in bulk, sometimes by the truckload. It turned out that fans, some of whom started a "Save Jericho" petition drive, had also found an Internet nut seller called NutsOnline. "When I saw the first several orders, I thought it might be credit card fraud or a prank," said Jeffrey Braverman, head of NutsOnline. "Then I checked it out and found it was real, so I changed the site to give the fans a chance to pool their money for an order." With the help of a "Save Jericho" section on the NutsOnline Web site, fans began combining their contributions (which averaged $10) and last Wednesday alone more than two tons of nuts were sent to CBS. The next day, Mr. Braverman, 26, and his uncle drove the company's black van from Linden, N.J., to Manhattan to personally deliver 1,000 pounds. By the weekend, nearly 10 tons of roasted peanuts and other nuts had arrived on CBS's doorstep. "We are impressed by the creativity of their campaign," said Chris Ender, a CBS spokesman in Los Angeles (which received far fewer nuts than Manhattan). But so far executives haven't changed their decision about the show, he said. The nuts are meant not only as a commentary on the mindset of the executives who canceled "Jericho," but also as a reference to one of the show's closing lines. In the May 16 finale, lead character Jake Green, played by the actor Skeet Ulrich, was told to surrender his rural Kansas town to a hostile neighboring settlement. His one-word response, "Nuts," is similar to the defiant retort uttered by General Anthony McAuliffe to a German demand for surrender during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. This isn't the first time disgruntled fans have used food to protest a canceled series. In 2002, viewers of the science fiction series "Roswell" sent WB executives thousands of bottles of Tabasco sauce, a condiment favored by the show's aliens. Mr. Ender said that CBS would donate the nuts to food banks, the Bronx Zoo and Staten Island Project Homefront, which sends care packages to troops overseas. That outcome pleases Mr. Braverman, who has never seen "Jericho," but has been struggling to roast enough peanuts to fill the orders. When he is done, he said, "I'm going to find the back episodes and watch them."</i> ELIZABETH OLSON |
I just don't get what CBS is thinking... Ratings were good before the obligatory winter hiatus...They bring it back (after about 12 weeks I might add) with no advertisement and put it against of all shows American Idol... What did they expect it to do ??? The ratings fell off and they are saying 8.5 million viewers are not enough. But they turn around and put another damn reality show involving kids in a Lord of The Flies scenario. I am so pissed it isn't even funny. This was one of the 2 shows I watched on a consistent basis (Lost being the other). I hope the Jerichoholics clog up CBS with so many phonecalls, letters, and peanuts they reconsider...
