Fox orders more '24'
Fox orders more '24'
Emmy winner extended through '08-'09 season
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER
Jack's back - and on board to save the world at least two more times.
Fox has ordered two more seasons of "24," keeping the Emmy-winning drama on the net through the 2008-2009 TV season.
Announcement comes on the eve of Fox's Thursday upfront presentation. Show remains a powerful player for Fox, despite ratings dips and critical knocks this season.
Exec producers for "24" have already told several publications that they plan to make some changes on the show next season - but the twist will remain the same: Each episode covering one hour of real time as special agent Jack Bauer races against the clock to stop something bad from happening.
20th Century Fox TV and Imagine TV are behind "24," which winds down its sixth season Monday with a two-hour finale.
"24" is coming off an Emmy win for outstanding drama series, as well as outstanding lead actor in a drama (for star Kiefer Sutherland). Show has scored 51 Emmy noms throughout its existence, including five for best drama.
Joel Surnow, Robert Cochran, Howard Gordon, Evan Katz, Jon Cassar, Brian Grazer and Sutherland exec produce "24."

Well, looks like they get to prove if this show could actually get any worse than this current season.
They swear that this finale will justify the whole season, but man are they stacking their chips HARD!
Still, always nice to have a non-stop season come January.

I'm not sure I can ever get back into this show. I've even started selling/trading off my old seasons on dvd because I doubt I'll ever want to watch them. Season six ruined things for me THAT much.

They have so much to prove the next 2 seasons. I am hoping the "anticipated" makeover for season 7 will bring people back. IMO, Season 8 will most likely be the last one which is good.

It was my "Bobby Ewing" solution for Season 6.

wow, is 24 really that bad this season. I didn't think it could get any worse than the pure garbage that was last season. I've only watched the first 12 episodes of this season and it seemed at least on par with last season if not better. Has the show just gotten worse in the last 10 episodes?

Yes it did, I had the first 4 episodes of the season on DVD w/ a 10 minute preview of episode 5. The contrast in quality between the end of episode 4 and the beginning of episode 5 is ridiculous.

Shame. I was actually hoping to hear cancellation news, not 2 more seasons. I'm not sure if I want to keep watching this show because I can't take another bad season like this.
Season 6 ALMOST ruins the other 5 Days for me....ALMOST. Fortunately I can pretend this Day never existed.

Aside from Sutherland, "24" will return with a new cast (some old favorites might return in different roles) and a new, non-Los Angeles location, with the producers even contemplating telling the story from two locations.
to finally getting the hell out of LA, and hopefully out of CTU as well.
to "old favorites" returning... they already killed off my favorite supporting cast members. Better to have everything starting over.
