Big Love is next!

Absolutely. We only activated HBO days before the Sopranos started this half, and we'll be cancelling Monday after the last episode.

Depends on when The Wire starts. If it doesn't start for a while, which one assumes will be the case, I'll probably cancel in between. Big Love didn't do anything for me.

It will be interesting to see them in reset mode with Sopranos, Deadwood, and Rome all gone. Have to give them a chance to prove themselves.

I never paid for it to begin with. I just wait and Netflix any shows I want to watch.

I basically never pay more than $2 a month for HBO, and have it virtually year round. If you have DirecTV, just call and ask if they have any deals on HBO. Pretty much every 6 months I can call and get $10 off for 6 months. You can generally get Showtime free for 6 months at a crack as well, if you like it.

And if I did pay full price, I'd get it through the summer - Entourage and Big Love (which I'm anticipating more than I did The Sopranos).

What do they have in the pipeline, after this summer? I don't watch The Wire, is that still going strong? It's usually a fall show, right?

No, because of Entourage and Big Love this summer. After that, I may cancel it until The Wire comes back.

Yes, my HBO will be gone. I'm even considering getting rid of it even prior to Sopranos being over, considering how craptacular this last season has been.

Nope. I don't have HBO or Showtime for any of their series. I have both of them for boxing.

No, Big Love will begin soon. Entourage's next season starts about the same time. The Wire will be returning also. I also want to see what HBO comes out with next. If all of the new shows suck, THEN I'll cancel HBO.

Of course not. HBO always has great shows and original films, not to mention their superior sports reporting. People are always eulogizing them when one of the more mainstream shows concludes its run, but the network keeps producing, and I can't imagine what it would be like to have missed shows like <i>The Wire</i> or <i>Big Love</i>.

I haven't had HBO (or Showtime or The Movie Channel) since 1984 when my parents paid for it.

Lived fine without them ever since.

Only shows I have watched from "pay cable" are Larry Sanders and Curb, and both of those are on DVD. I don't know why I would pay for pay cable...and unless the disposable income is shooting out of my ass $40 a second I won't pay for it either.
