Do you mean the normal, well adjusted Duncan Kane who though he killed his own sister, slept with Veronica after his mom told him that she was his half-sister and had an illegitimate child whom he later kidnapped and fled the country with?

Yeah, that's the one. ;)

I haven't loved this season, so I'd like to see the F.B.I. story, but there are some characters I'd miss. I'd imagine they could have Keith on there still even if it was phone calls and visits, maybe Wallace could drop by on occasion since he's supposed to be her best friend (though you'd never know it from the way they've interacted this season) Mac could get a storyline maybe they could be roomies, or she could always end up working for a company on the east coast. But aside from a visit to Neptune, there would be nowhere for Cliff, Vinnie or (my favorite who has gotten practically no screen time this season) Weevil to fit in. I wouldn't mind losing Logan, if I'd ever liked him to begin with, the constant on and off angst would have turned me off. They hurt each other every single time they try to have a relationship, he lies and she is untrusting, it's obviously not going to work.

I'm not sure how tv contracts work, but if Rob Thomas went out of his way to say he couldn't imagine the show without Logan and he's also already signed for a 4th season, whether you like him or you don't really won't matter.

Unless the CW pays him and then tells Thomas they don't want him and it's a deal-breaker, if the FBI show is picked up, expect Logan to be a part of it.

Jimmy James 05-10-07 10:56 PM

My guess about Logan is that Rob Thomas has to leave his options very open because the situation with the CW is extremely fluid. I have serious doubts that we'll be seeing the Logan character on a weekly basis if the show becomes about Veronica at the academy, but he could be a viable part of the show if she becomes a field agent back in California or if they stick with the second year of college.

Even after all the Logan bashing, I can still believe that the character could thrive in the reboot of this show. A LOT can happen to a person in four years - especially in college. The show could come back, and Logan could be the most well adjusted, normal, caring person EVER. But then wouldn't that kinda turn him into Duncan Kane? :hscratch:

I really think Veronica deserves better than Logan. They never should have had her stop dating Leo. They were a perfect match.

Agree. They have ruined his character and their relationship. Time to move on.

I just have this feeling, based on how the first 3 seasons have gone, that Logan will end up at the academy with Veronica. Not as a couple, per say, but maybe their history remaining a part of the story.

I have no insider info and, personally, I don't mind if he stays or goes (I'm only rooting for Keith and Mac and I'm resigned to the fact that Mac probably won't be a part of season 4 at all), I just have this vision of Logan being right there with Veronica. I think that's what Thomas wants. Just a feeling, I have.

All those who despise him will certainly hope my gut is wrong on this one.

What exactly do you think he'd do at the academy? Not only has he never shown an interest in it, he has bad grades, a police record (which could be sealed, but with all the newspaper coverage about the bumfights and things like that, it wouldn't matter) and I'm pretty sure you have to talk a shrink before you could actually join the FBI and I wouldn't exactly call him mentally stable.

I could see him on the east coast opening a business, but not as a fed.

madcougar 05-11-07 09:25 AM

I'm not a fan of Logan. It's like the writers can't decide if he's an a-hole or not. This on again, off again thing is getting really old. I just don't see what he brings to the show, and honestly, I can't imagine him on a the reworked concept. In fact outside of Mac and Kieth Mars, I don't see how you work anyone else into the show.

wmansir 05-11-07 09:44 AM

I had this idea just after hearing about the FBI pitch. Instead of just writing off everyone except Veronica, how about they try to recapture the magic of the first season and have her return home after being away a couple of years to solve the mystery of the murder of one of these characters? I think finally having a story Veronica and the audience really cared about, plus some good flashback action, would be worth the trade off of the occasional guest appearance.

Why do they have to? The tension is created by not knowing whether Logan will be good or bad.

That being said .... I don't care for him either. He needs someone else to play off of, like Weevil.

The series has taken a nose dive since the first season and is a waste of acting talent. The problem is the writers and production staff. Since that most likely won't change, Veronica FBI isn't going to be much different.

MrE 05-11-07 11:08 AM

That raises the question: Where is Weevil? Francis Capra is still listed in the credits but he sure hasn't been around much. Maybe VM will be hired to find him.

The real problem for me at least is that Logan is the whiniest little bitch of a bad boy ever. He hasn't been a bad boy since season 1. He's a bad ass why? Because he skips his college classes? What has he done that makes him an anti-hero? I mean the guy was an ass season 1, but I don't think that's the case now. Not by far. If he's supposed to be a bad boy/jackass, then make him one.

I agree with your second point. It's a shame they couldn't find more for Weevil to do this season. I thought it would have been great if he had been good at the detective thing.

I preface this comment by saying that I'm Hispanic... but I found it sad that the best thing they could find for Weevil to do this season was become a maintenance man. How freakin' cliche.

Maybe Weevil will decide to run for sheriff, too.

labyangel 05-11-07 12:44 PM

I love Weevil, I think Keith should have given him a second chance as a detective. Since his actions led to the kid staying with the person abusing him, I think Weevil would learn quickly to think about the long term consequences of his actions. I do remember reading that one of the upcoming eps was supposed to feature him. Yay for that!

Doc Moonlight 05-11-07 12:44 PM

Here's my theory. When we flash forward two years, we find that Logan has gotten elected to Congress. That puts him in the same general geographic area as Veronica and the relationship continues.

The only rub with that is Article 1, Section 2:
