In this world, his mother is alive, Sam is in law school and engaged to Jessica, and Dean lives a very normal life with his girlfriend. I will be watching as always

This and Smallville are being pre-empted in San Antonio by an Astros baseball game per TVGuide.

"What Is and What Should Never Be" (that's the name of a Led Zeppelin tune, right?)

Great episode. Really great episode. This one was truly for the fans because it has that "What If" quality to it that rewards long time viewers of the show. Although a bit derivative of The X-Files 6th Season episode "Field Trip", I don't consider that a strike because inspiration from a great source (which is one of my favorite episodes of that show) is a good thing, not something bad.

I really liked this episode, especially the scene where Dean realizes just how significant the work he and Sam do really is...sure some of the "sacrifice for the greater good" stuff was cliche, but it was really well done....and Carmen was smoking hot.

Eric Kripke directed. Interesting episode. My only problem was that their mother looked REALLY young. Since it wasn't real, I can excuse it, but would she really look like the day she burned on the ceiling?

Oh boy! The final two episodes are a two-parter undoubtedly ending in a radical cliffhanger like last year!

It was all in his head, though, so his mother would look like he remembered her. The same mental process that explains his hotty wife because she was a magazine model that the back of his mind picked up and used to imagine an ideal wife.

Although it was a bit surprising that he didn't imagine his father was still alive. I guess that was because he only wished for his mother to be alive in the moment that the genie grabbed him.

It wasn't what he wished for in that moment otherwise I'm sure he would of wished the djinn would drop dead. It was a wish he had and has had in the back of his mind for a long time. Just because Dean wished for his mom to be alive didn't necessarily mean his dad would be alive too. Hell, instead of the writers making it a stroke they could of just as easily said that the mom asked the dad to run to the store to get some ice cream or something and he was killed by a drunk driver along the way. Which would of added a little bit more cause and effect to the situation instead of a stroke.

All and all I liked this episode quite a bit.

Isn't Papa Winchester (Jeffery Dean Morgan) supposed to return for the Season finale?

Spoiler:
Yes, according to Entertainment Weekly

Additionally, the writers did want him for this recent episode but evidently had scheduling conflicts, hence the tacked on "dad's dead" mention.

Great episode! I guess this was the "calm before the storm" episode and especially loved that scene of Dean mowing the lawn to the tune of "What A Wonderful World".

Can't wait for the next two episodes and hope that CW doesn't cancel this show.

I liked it as well. I had forgot that Jessica and Tyra from FNL were played by the same actress.

This was actually the first episode I have watched. I think it was enough to get to watch from the beginning. It seems like a good show, and something to tide me over post-Angel.

I think Target has season one on sale for $22.99, I just recently started watching as well and Supernatural has easily become one of my favorite shows.

That's how I've sold the show to quite a few people: if you like Buffy and Angel and X-Files, you'd like this. Grab the season set and get to watchin'.

I was waiting for the WB to get their act together and release the 1st Season on HD-DVD....but at that price, I think I'll just pick it up.

redrum 05-07-07 01:20 AM

^ Given all the shows on the the rumored chopping block at CW, they won't have anything left to bring back if this one goes too.

Anybody else remember the Alan Moore Superman story this episode heavily resembles?

Was it the same story they used in the JL episode called " The Man who has Everything"?

Thanks for the heads up. I went to Target after work yesterday to pick it up and sure enough they have it for $22.99.

The CW announces its fall schedule one week from Thursday, so let's hope it is on it.
