I wasn't a fan of her performance last night either. She was trying to put way too much into it and the song lost almost all of its actual melody. She was just singing each word as if it had no connection to the next.

Even though most of the performances were passable, that was my least favorite night of AI this season. I detest Bon Jovi songs with a passion! Ugh.
So, count me in as someone who thought Blake did a decent job because he made a wretchedly bad song a little interesting.

I wanna see Phil go. I've wanted that the entire time.

Well, I'm another one that loved Blake's performance, although as a beatboxer, he's only above average. Phil was second best. Melinda was good too, but she seemed so uncomfortable doing the rock thing.

Chris and Jordan were both terrible. Chris is likely gone this week, but I think Jordan may hang on. Lakisha is only good when she's belting out a huge note. She may join Chris on the way out.

Chris is a goner for SURE. I think Jordin might go too. I don't want LaKisha or Melinda to go yet

Phil. Eh..

Lakisha chose safety. Where was the rock? Simon kissing Lakisha on the lips made me want to throw up a little.

Jordan was terrible but at least the girl tried and took a risk. Unlike Lakisha.

Chris was OK.

Melinda was pretty good. Out of her comfort zone and grooving with the song.

Blake...I didn't love it or hate it. The needle on the record thing was just weird. I'm surprised if the kids got that one. I do like the fact that he took a risk and it was so different. Different though not better than the original.

When Lakisha sings, she looks like she's laqueefing.

Why are people talking about Blakes BEATBOXING?!?!?

The people who loved his performance loved the fact that a 20 YEAR OLD KID RE-ARRANGED A 20 YEAR OLD SONG, BY HIMSELF, AND MADE IT SOUND LIKE A HOT SINGLE TODAY.

Chris Daughtry stole arrangments from LIVE and RHCP and was lavished with praise.

Blake Lewis was given a choice of 10 or so Hair Rock songs from the 80's....and created a funk, hip hop, rock fusion that sounds like NOTHING in Top 40 radio.

The fucking kid is doing arrangements like on ROCKSTAR, and here he gets shit for it....amazing.

I thought Phil would be safe, didn't much care for him, but he did get better. Surprised that Lakisha is safe.

Lakisha will be next. Followed by Melinda leaving us with a Blake/Jordan final.

The night was pretty predictable. I wasn't sure if it would be Chris or Loudkisha though. I wanted it to be Loudkisha, but you can't get everything you want.

The worst part... trying to pretend they didn't know if it was Blake or Chris who was getting the boot. Although I hated Blake's performance with fervor of which I may never recover (I always liked him before that), there's no way it was going to be him.

Awww, I never liked Phil, but I have to say I was pretty touched by his send-off performance. Even LaKisha was crying, and she doesn't even like the other contestants.

Me too! I am not his biggest fan, but Phil made me kind of like him on his way out the door. I was very touched by the whole affair, which shocked the hell out of me. He may not be the best contestant they ever had, but he sure seems like a swell guy. As long as I never have to hear him sing again, I wish him all the best.

Unless Black crashes the party, which is what might happen if Jordin and Melinda split the vote (ala fantasia and latoya).

I thought Chris acted pretty classy at the end too. He's sendoff was also pretty touching, and I think this group genuinely likes each other. Except for Lashrieka, who was crying only because she thought she might have to kiss Ryan next week to keep from being cut.

Jordin got really lucky this week. I assume she accumulated enough votes from last week to make up for this week's disappointment. It sounded like Ryan was saying next week is a disco/funk theme because Barry Gibb is the mentor. Hopefully this will give her a chance to shine.

This helps Blake.... he now gets ALL the teen girl votes instead of splitting them with Chris

Yeah, I'd think Blake is a lock for the finals now. Next week will be a dangerous one for the girls with a split vote, they could all be at risk. But the way things have been going it should end up a Blake/Melinda battle.

I think Lakeisha will be next just based on the likeability factor... She seems to have none of this. I mean Blake is the guy all the young teens will voted for, Jordin is the young, bubbly girl, and Melinda is the "shy one" with the big voice. Lakeisha just comes off a little rough and does the same thing from week to weel. It really suprises me that she beat Phil this week. I really though he saved himself the past few weeks.

Blake's actually 25, not 20. Not a big difference when you're in your 30s or 40s, but a huge difference in maturity when you're that young.

I guess what I'm saying is there's a lot of performers as young as Blake in the history of music who have done just as well, and even much better, updating previously-released songs.

Not to take anything away from him, but let's not pretend he's some kind of musical phenom.

To be really fair, I think that remains to be seen. We are seeing him (and all the contestants) at their introductory stages. No famous recording artist is a musical phenom on their own. With all the right people and studios behind him, he could become just that. I think he is pretty amazing right now, plucked from the streets and doing his thing. Like I said, with AI behind him, the rest is yet to be seen.
