04/26/07 - My Name is Earl - G.E.D.

Summary:

Earl tries to apply for a credit card but he's declined because he doesn't have a job. He decides to take steps to adulthood by going back to school to earn his G.E.D. At school he realizes how hard it is for teachers to deal with badly behaved kids, just like the one he used to be.

Maybe not the funniest episode, but as a substitute teacher who is serving a long-term assignment at the nation's worst high school (well, it seems that way to me), I got some vicarious pleasure watching the teachers fight back. If only!

Loved Randy stealing the teachers food as they freaked out about the car blowing up.

Thought the episode was funny.

Not to derail the thread, but my Panasonic recorder dislikes memorex. At one point I almost sent it in for service because I thought it was the unit.

It's a schooner. I didn't even catch that until I read your post. Nice 'in' joke.

Loved that. Only thing funnier was:

"Subsets? Our Earl is growing up right before our eyes."

I laughed when Randy poured out a little chocolate milk in memory of the shop teacher. Toasting a dead homey.

Sigh... I feel like this show has lost some of its initial charm. This episode just didn't do it for me.

i agree, the past few episodes been pretty boring. I love some of the characters on this show, but the premise is hurting this show. Earl Helping people has worn out for me. The stories arent funny to me anymore. I love Randy, Crabman, Catalina and Joy. I think Jason Lee is the weakest link on the show. I like him but his character is pretty boring.

The show is just not as good when Joy is not a major factor. Randy is beyond annoying now. Catalina is useless. The storylines just don't gel anymore. I hope the show receovers from the subpar last few episodes.
