Tonight (04/24/07) AMERICAN IDOL partners with Charity Projects Entertainment Fund to raise awareness and money for young people living in extreme poverty in America and Africa. The Top 6 finalists will perform for the nation, singing songs related to compassion and hope during a "Life Anthems"-themed episode. Tune in for this very special IDOL GIVES BACK performance show, "6 Finalists Compete/Idol Gives Back, Part 1," Tuesday, April 24 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

Please make sure to put spoiler tags on any discussion involving dialidol.com when posting prior to the airing of the results show. Once the results show has aired, spoiler tags are not needed.

I can tell already I'm not going to like the show tonight based on the theme. If I never hear songs like "Wind Beneath My Wings" again, it'll be too soon. Can't they all just group sing "We Are the World" and be done with it?

Hearing a whole show of that crap might just make me vomit. Tuesday's are a big DVR night and with the playoff game tonight, I might just zip through this ep tomorrow.

Or just catch the 20 second recaps on elimination night...........

Dang, 50 views and I'm the first one to vote. Everyone else must be waiting for tomorrow's show :D

I think this is Chris' last stand.

mphtrilogy 04-24-07 08:21 AM

No Doubt Sanjaya would have lasted through this week since they are phrasing it with votes = money. Hell, I haven't voted all year, but will probably place a few for Melinda, Jordin adn Lakisha and maybe even one or two for Blake.

"singing songs related to compassion and hope during a "Life Anthems"-themed episode"

...oh God, this is going to be unbearable. $50 bucks on someone singing "I Believe I Can Fly." Oh...and a backup choir...preferably children...homeless children...homeless children with tuberculosis.

SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!!!

matta 04-24-07 10:29 AM

Damn -- I misread the title. I was hoping for some "Eye of the Tiger" and "Highway to the Danger Zone".

BDB 04-24-07 11:06 AM

I've already seen a list of the songs and performances listed on the interweb, including who did good and bad..

This was pre-recorded

movieking 04-24-07 11:18 AM

Can you link or spoiler?

FantasticVSDoom 04-24-07 11:23 AM

This is going to be pretty cringe worthy... But may be entertaining in a corny sort of way.

Spoiler:
01 Chris Richardson "If I Could Change The World"
02 Melinda Doolittle "There Will Come A Day"
03 Blake Lewis "Imagine"
04 LaKisha Jones "I Believe" (Merkin Muffley ... you win the bet  )
05 Phil Stacey "The Change"
06 Jordin Sparks "You'll Never Walk Alone"

brainee: It could be:

Spoiler:
that it's not "I Believe I Can Fly", but "I Believe" by Blessid Union of Souls. I thought that someone would do Richard Marx "Children of the Night"

Here's a rundown from someone who attended.

And loads of spoilers linked here including next weeks special guest
http://www.fansofrealitytv.com/forum...oilers-81.html

Spoiler:

First up was Chris with "If I Could Change The World" by Eric Clapton. I'm not a huge fan of Chris, but I thought he did a wonderful job of the song. He didn't sound at all nasal and gave a very good performance.

Next up was Melinda with Faith Hills' "There Will Come A Day". Wow! This girl is even better in person!

Third was Blake with "Imagine" by John Lennon with piano accompaniment. I thought he was a wee bit off on one of the transitions to falsetto, but on the whole another very good vocal and performance.

Fourth was LaKisha with "I Believe" by Fantasia. I know a lot of people are probably groaning because she is performing another song by a previous Idol, but let me tell you. She was absolutely wonderful! A beautiful, moving performance.

Next up was Phil with "The Change" by Garth Brooks. Phil also sounds wonderful live. His vocals were nearly impeccable - powerful and moving.

Lastly, Jordin performed "You'll Never Walk Alone". Not sure whose version. I thought the beginning was a little off - perhaps a little too low for her to sing comfortably - and her transitions in spots were a little off. I could be way off base, but she didn't seem comfortable with her clothes and that may have thrown her off a bit. She finished very strong, however.

Weak here too.

Spoiler:
01 Chris Richardson "If I Could Change The World"

DAMN. I first thought this was "If I Ruled the World" by Kurtis Blow. Now that's something I'd like to see!

Judging by the other spoiler, it looks like we were both wrong!

brainee 04-24-07 03:10 PM

Just reading about these lame songs, I'm already missing Sanjaya  He sucked, but in a good way.

Too bad someone couldn't get away with a song like Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher". I don't know about you all, but songs like that uplift me more than the sappy snooze-fests everyone seems to be picking.

Quake1028 04-24-07 03:41 PM

Some site on the internet is claiming that Idol dumped votes for Sanjaya last week, and that Chris, Phil and Lakisha were actually the bottom 3, with Lakisha having the fewest votes. Supposedly this site has figured out a way to calculate the AI vote totals. Anyone know anything more about this?

What's the site?

BDB 04-24-07 03:49 PM

This is teh source.

And the press came from here.

http://girlstalkinsmack.com/cutenews...05697&archive=

ETA2: Since this story is starting to get some press, I just want everyone to know why I trust this source. He correctly spoiled the entire top 24 weeks prior to the Green Mile. He also spoiled the song choices correctly for weeks, as well as a few of the eliminations. He's also correctly spoiled Canadian Idol for at least a couple seasons. To tell the truth, I've never actually seen him post anything that's incorrect. Obviously there's no way for us to know for sure if the vote results are correct, take everything with a grain of salt as I've said before and remember...this is a celebrity GOSSIP website!

Jadzia 04-24-07 04:32 PM

So I guess no one will do Collective Soul's "Shine"?

Duh Vuh Duh 04-24-07 05:56 PM

I know he's already gone, but thought you guys would get a kick out of this. Watch about 1:06 into it for the older version of the the crying girl. rotfl
