The Amazing Race All Stars -- "The Way You Look, Yeah" -- 04/08/07

"The Way You Look, Yeah"
Spoiler:
The remaining teams continue in the ninth leg of the race. The behavior of Charla and Mirna "infuriates" Eric and Danielle. The normally cool Oswald and Danny argue when Danny calls out Oswald in frustration.

Airs: Sunday April 8, 2007

DVR ALERT:

Good chance that CBS coverage of The Masters will run past 7 and push everything back, so pad accordingly.

Good call. I set mine to run to run one hour long by default, but others might not.

Does anyone happen to know... if there is a tie at the end of the round today, does the Masters go to a playoff immediately afterwards, or would they do it tomorrow?

Red Dog 04-08-07 03:23 PM

Sudden death playoff immediately afterwards, enough sunlight permitting.

Red Dog 04-08-07 06:00 PM

No overrun.

magiccmom 04-08-07 06:32 PM

Oh gosh, I just remembered...Mirna and Schmrina are still in this.

Perkinsun Dzees 04-08-07 07:15 PM

Did they eliminate the "Yield" in this year's Race? I don't think I've seen it used in one leg yet. Then again, sometimes the team that gets Yielded ends up getting really pissed off and plays even harder and better, so maybe it's better for teams not to Yield each other.

Wow i thought Oswald and Danny were the last team and i totally forgot about Uchenna and Joyce

Timber 04-08-07 07:56 PM

Hmmm, I don't think Phil was there to check Joyce and Uchena in. I think they edited later but they never showed the 3 of them in the same frame. They must have been really late.

Danielle

Shouldn't Team ChaChaCha get some penalty from straying from the roadblock? Did they not have to scour the neighborhood for old newspapers?

Eplicon 04-08-07 08:11 PM

It would have been more fun to watch had that one team hadn't been so conspicuous by their absence for nearly the entire episode.

After all the arduous task of past eating eating challenges, why do so many still choose to do that? It's like everyone has a case of their eyes being larger than their stomachs.

Red Dog 04-08-07 08:13 PM

 at just buying the newspapers.

Pretty dumb for U&J to do that flight. Once they found that 3 other teams were on the one flight, there was no need to take that risk. Somehow Mirna and Schmirna got an earlier flight researching on their own than relying on concierges and travel agents - good lesson. at producers trying to create tension for seeing who would finish 3rd when every viewer knew that 4th was just as good this leg.

And I'm all for Eric letting Jugs do the roadblocks where she sweats in her lowcut spandex top.

I can't argue with that although she is a butterface.

 As they wee cutting from Danny and Oswald to Eric and Danielle and back to Danny and Oswald and back to Eric and Danielle ... I kept waiting for them to cut to Uchenna and Joyce sitting in the Frankfurt airport, staring sadly at the clock.

And I was rolling at Mirna's speech "These are the future Mirnas and Charlas of the world. Stay in school! Don't do drugs! Win more medals! In school!" I liked that she specified that she meant medals in school -- otherwise, that kid might have started training for the Olympis or something.

That should have been the title for this week's show...

"I'm Miss New York! I'm Miss California!" rotfl

Mirna and Schmirna add PSAs to their fake accents... lovely.

"Stay out of drugs!" :hscratch:

Mirna needs her own Saturday morning cartoon.

If you believe in yourself, drink your school, stay in drugs, and don't do milk -- you can win medals. In school!

The clue for the Detour, at least as described by Phil, stated that teams must travel ON FOOT to the cookies/stamps challenge. Mirna and Schmirna took a cab to the cookie challenge then again to the stamps one when they decided to switch. Eric and Danielle also took a cab to the cookies. Why did neither team receive a penalty?

zuffy 04-08-07 09:45 PM

I thought teams are not allowed help from locals, like the locals helping some teams pushing the bike.

That was hilarious, well, except for the possibility of future Mirnas and Schmirnas in the world.

asianflow 04-08-07 10:11 PM

I gotta admit I forgot about U+J until about the 40 minute mark. I was worried BQ's or Schmirna would be eliminated.

Looks like the folks there like to keep their newspapers.

Winky 04-08-07 10:38 PM

If a team gets yielded, can that team yield another team that is behind them?

Nope, only one team can yield another team at one time. What a shame Luchenna and Joyce cant win thier SECOND million. Yeah, hard to feel sorry for them. Omgod, Mirna and Schmrina are STILL in this.

they have always gotten help from the locals. If they aren't allowed, season 10 would probably still be going on.

Eric is a complete tool but "those dirty pirate hookers" is one of the funniest lines in TAR history.
