Is How I Met Your Mother Getting Cancelled?

I am a big fan of this show. Great casts. Great script.
I've seen fan sites over the net having petitions to save this show.

Most sites are pointing to this link:
http://community.tvguide.com/thread....adID=800011244

I hope this is not true. Has anyone heard about this?

Ausiello has a blind item about a show getting cancelled that no fans really realize is in danger, and most people think it is HIMYM. Also, Kristin on E! included it in her Save Our Show contest, and I think that she said that the bar set has already been torn down. This is my favorite network comedy, and if cancelled, I'll be very upset.

Edit: Oops, just realized the link was to Ausiello's BI

Weird. I also have thought that the show was doing well. I mean, I knew it wasn't top 10 or anything, but I thought it was doing well enough to warrant another season.

Could it possibly be The New Adventures of Old Christine instead? I think it could fall into the description as well. It was gone for a quite a while when HIMYM was showing new eps.

CBS is ridiculous with their viewer requirements.

Yeah, "Close to Home" is on the bubble as well, even though it is regularly #1 in its time slot. I think CBS is spoiled from all their other shows.

Shows like Love Monkey or Smith don't even get a chance to build an audience.

If it really is dropped, ABC could pick it up - America's Funniest Home Videos could use a break here and there.

I really hope this isn't true. I just got on the bandwagon for this show last summer and absolutely love it. It's probably my favorite laugh track sitcom on TV (it'd probably be my favorite sitcom if not for The Office).

I've been curious - has this happened much historically? Shows moving to a different network?

No kidding, im surpised they havn't cancelled CSI because its not beating Grey's anatomy.

CBS must have hired the former NBC grinches cause NBC used cancel shows fast but now they wait awhile thankfully.
3 LBs. could have been a really good show but CBS cancelled it after only 3 episodes.

I wouldn't say that it has happened a lot, but it has definitely happened over the years. Probably the most famous example is Buffy moving from WB to UPN. I know there some others, but the only other ones I can think of right off the top of my head are The Critic and Jag. I know someone could name a few more for you. Wasn't there a show or two that WB saved from another network?

Grounded For Life went from FOX to WB midway through it's third season.

I can't believe How I Met Your Mother is in danger of being canceled. Isn't it doing decent in the ratings? They may not be great numbers, but does any comedy on TV get great numbers right now? Is CBS expecting every show to have 25 million viewers?

Monday - 03/19 - 8:00-9:00 (7-8pm)
1. “Dancing with the Stars” (Season Premiere) (ABC) 20.59m
2. “Prison Break” (FOX) 8.26m
3. “How I Met Your Mother” / “New Adv. of Old Christine” (CBS) 7.20m
4. “Everybody Hates Chris” / “All of Us” (CW) 2.56m

now even through How i met your mother didn't do fantastic, If CBS should be cancelling any Sitcoms it should be the new adventures of old christine. Look at the overall viewers:

Top Shows by Viewers
1. “Dancing with the Stars” (Season Premiere) (ABC) 21.65m
2. “CSI: Miami” (CBS) 17.43m
3. “Deal or No Deal” (8-10) (NBC) 14.05m
4. “24” (FOX) 11.88m
5. “Two and a Half Men” (CBS) 11.62m
6. “Rules of Engagement” (CBS) 9.32m
7. “Prison Break” (FOX) 8.26m
8. “How I Met Your Mother” (CBS) 7.53m
9. “What About Brian” (ABC) 7.38m
10. “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (CBS) 6.86m
11. “The Black Donnellys” (NBC) 5.83m
12. “Everybody Hates Chris” (CW) 2.66m
13. “All of Us” (CW) 2.46m
14. “The Game” (CW) 2.14m
15. “Girlfriends” (CW) 2.11m

through i would hate to see new/christine cancelled i think CBS would be making a mistake cancelling HIMYM.

Back in the 70's Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman moved from ABC to CBS.

If NBC doesn't renew Scrubs, ABC will apparently pick it up, so that could potentially be another example.

Wait so either of these could be cancelled before The Class?

Of course that blind item reference is just totally retarded. Just SAY what it is already!

You see, an influential suit at the net thinks the show is about as funny as a root canal, and is flummoxed by its appeal.
Who the hell cares? I think Dancing with the Stars is shit, but if it were raking in some bucks, why get rid of it? It isn't the show that sucks, it is America's reality-show mentality.

Oh and I think that Taxi moved from ABC to NBC.

Sometimes Ausiello gives out answers to his blind items, and it wouldn't surprise me if he did for this one as well, since it is basically the same BI he ran a few weeks ago about a seemingly hit show that is in trouble. He answered it on his vodcast, and it was Close To Home.

From most accounts, The Class is going to be a goner as well. I absolutely loathed this show after the first couple of episodes, but based on some good buzz I read on this board, I went back and watched all of the episodes, and it got a lot better than it started out.

This is sad if true, but not entirely surprising. I've always thought this show was an odd fit for CBS, whose sitcoms tend to skew either older or more towards families. I've always thought this would be a great pick up for Fox if they could find something decent to pair it with. It seems to fit their demographic a bit better.

Isn't it about time for CBS to jump on the game show bandwagon?

God no, I'm trying to minimize me Fox viewing (down to Bones and 24 - woo hoo!)

I think NBC would be a better fit.
