That was probably the coolest opening skit that they have ever done.

The longest as well.

No doubt they'll get all kinds of angry letters from views in the Bible Belt.

This episode had me busting up all through it (WTF?!). The 1987 picture re-creation was an awesome nod to their roots. The editor was great! "Outstanding! This one has 'page one' written all over it! What the Hell'd ya do that for??"

I hope they bring that character back again, as well as the Jon Lovitz character. It's always good to hear a Lovitz character in my opinion. He hasn't been on the show since the The Ziff Who Came to Dinner episode (14 March 2004) when he voiced Artie Ziff again.

Yeah, but it's just J.K. Simmons doing the exact same thing he does in the Spiderman movies.

Talk about nostalgia... Homer mentions that he's met all the people coming out of the dry cleaners but they don't recognize him, mention of the fact Homer has gone into outer space (twice!), the nod to 1987 Simpsons, Barney flying a helicopter. It's not often The Simpsons references old episodes.

I love the JJ Jamison form the Spiderman movies so those parts were awesome. I know it would never happen but I wouldn't mind a whole movie based around JJJ. Hell, make it a TV series.

My wife and I could have sworn that we have seen the JJJ character in Simpsons before, but that he actually looked like JJJ. Were were both imagining things?

Yes, I think he was in the episode from last year where Moe takes credit for the poems that Lisa wrote. I remember him asking for pictures of Spider-Man in that episode.

Don't forget the the LIVE intro:

...and the "trippy" intro:

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/XF3hXU5HzI0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/XF3hXU5HzI0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Anyway, I though this was a great overall episode.
