TV shows that you dislike, but continue to Watch

Reading the 24 threads brought about this topic. So many people frustrated with what has become of 24, and yet continue to watch. There are many different reasons.

Here is mine: 24. It has kind of crapped the bed this season, but yet I continue to watch, Part of the reason, because I have been there since season 1.

Another was X-files. It was craptastic in season Nine, and yet I watched because I tried to be loyal to that show, even though it really bit in the last season.

Dr. Henry Jones, Jr. 03-20-07 04:13 PM

scrubs. it is crap lately but I still watch it.

Frenzy 03-20-07 04:15 PM

Prison Break. The second season is one big annoyance but I still want to see an end to this show. They should have ended it after the suspenseful first season. :(

lost

Red Dog 03-20-07 04:29 PM

Greys Anatomy
Gilmore Girls

Prison Break
24
American Idol
Grey's Anatomy
Battlestar Galactica
Heroes
Desperate Housewives
The Amazing Race

Oh, hell ... this is going to take forever. Television's in a huge slump right now -- I'd say 80-90% of the shows I watch aren't very good, and some are downright awful. It took ER twice as long to suck half as much as Grey's Anatomy. Hopefully, there's some creativity on the horizon.

None. If I dislike a show I stop watching...easy as that.

I watched about 1/2 of the first season of 24, started not to like it, dropped it and never looked back.

I still love Lost now as much as I did when it first started. (I think this'll be #1 in this thread.)

I was a faithful watcher of ER for the first 7 or 8 seasons, I stopped watching about the time Anthony Edwards left. Haven't kept up recently.

There's a ton of "popular" shows that I watched one or two episodes of, didn't really take to them, and never went back.

superdeluxe 03-20-07 05:00 PM

I think that is the big thing about watching what we might think is crap, Because we want to see how it all ends. I think thats why I stuck with X-files, I'm sticking with 24, even though its not on the X-files pain level yet.

Another Show that was REALLY bad that I watched till the end. The O.C.

I am glad I stuck out with that show.

Prison Break...just 2 more to go.
24...this season is less than impressive.
Desperate Housewives...2nd season was a chore, but it's better now.
Gilmore Girls....just riding it out now, I think I see the finish line.
Jericho...1st half was bad (I only stayed for the few minutes of bombs related plot), the 2nd half is off to a better start.
The O.C....wow that was a bad 2 middle seasons, but slightly redeemed by the last season.

Deal or No Deal. This is just one show where I enjoy seeing the contestants choke for being too greedy or listening too much to other people. I can't stand how every model HAS to peak into the case first so they can pout and give sympathetic looks and apologies to the contestant. Or the gratuitous camera shots of family and friends to add to the unnecessary drama. Last week there were TWO contestants that had the million dollar case and opted for the banker's chump change offer instead.

The only reason I am still watching Gilmore Girls is because of my wife. That's the only show that I haven't dropped yet this season that I would like to.

the big train 03-20-07 05:40 PM

Based on the first six episodes of the season, I would have said Lost. However, I think every epsiode that has aired in 2007, with the exception of the tattoo episode, has been great. I takes a lot more for me to hate a show than it apparently does for others. I think it will be awhile before I get on the "Lost sucks! We want answers!" bandwagon.

Studio 60 definitely would have qualified, but I'm not exactly watching that anymore.

I typically just stop watching if I don't enjoy a show anymore. I'm not a masochist.

While I don't agree that TV is in the slump you claim it is, what else would you expect when every show has come to rely on character deaths to create drama? I blame Lost for that.

The looming writer's strike should guarantee that won't happen anytime soon.

I enjoy the TV shows I watch. I did watch an episode of War At Home this past Sunday waiting for the Simpsons to start, but I certainly would not watch that show on a regular basis.

wetsprockets 03-20-07 06:05 PM

Grey's Anatomy
Nip/Tuck
24
Prison Break

I don't dislike these shows, though Grey's and Nip/Tuck are close to that with all the unlikable characters on it, but I'm very disappointed with their seasons. 24 especially, because I had the highest expectations for it.

My thoughts exactly.

I can't imagine disliking a show, yet still continuing to watch it. :hscratch:

There have been times when a show I like went downhill, like Nip/Tuck or Desperate Housewives, but I still liked it. If I didn't enjoy it at all, I'd stop watching. That's why I don't watch Family Guy or The Simpsons anymore.

Probably American Idol... Just no one I am pulling for. I remember Alias was pretty meh for a while, but I never gave up on it, and thought the last season was pretty good. Finally, The Sopranos. I just dont know what to think about the show anymore, but I have been there forever so I have to stick with it until the end.

House? I don't dislike it per se, but I don't rave about it like i did in the first and 2nd season. I now have lower expectations going in, and just keep waiting for them to find a way to get it together and keep it fresh. There have probably been 1 or 2 eps this season that i really loved.

I actually would blame either Buffy or 24 for the surprising character deaths trend, which isn't meant to be an overt criticism for either show (although 24 has come to abuse the character deaths thing).

The one show I can really think of that I'm getting fed up with is Gilmore Girls. I've come to realize that I've been hugely forgiving of this show, sticking up for it even when others were saying it was going into the crapper. Well, it took me a while, but I can finally admit how far it's come down, but I WILL stick with it until the bitter (and I think soon) end.

House, just seemed to tread water with the cop and I lost interest, haven't seen any previews that make me want to return.

Cartload 03-20-07 08:43 PM

24 has been very lackluster this season.

Galactica hit a slump with the algae planet episode, but the last 2 episodes have been good and with a shorter season next year, I think it can get back to the awesomeness it had in season 1.

i agree tv this year in in a big slump, i would go as far to say this could be the worst year in primetime tv history.

NCIS - what the fuck happened to this show, the first 3 seasons were execellent but this year just plain sucks, i still watch because i want it to come out of the slump but im starting to worry it wont.

Las Vegas - this show was on the rocks. being that there were only 17 episodes this season i would say about less then half the season was good. the 1st episode was good, and the final 2 were good and the odd episode in between but some episodes were useless.

Lost - wow from one of the biggest hits to a half assed show, i watch cause i want to find out what happens but those god damn flashbacks are boring as hell.

CSI: Miami - the worst of the 3 csi's, the acting makes this show almost unwatchable.

& as usual the Simpsons are still shit for the past years.

there are a shitload of shows i watch this year which are alright but these shows are on the edge of losing my viewing.

24--I've been watching on fast forward so I get through it in 15 minutes or so. I'll probably drop this completely (I did last year).

American Idol--I drop in on it now and then, listen to 10 seconds or so of each singer and Simon's comments. I just can't seem to care this year, but I haven't completely dropped it.

Prison Break--Please let it get better. I hate to drop it because it used to be so much fun, but now, it's kind of boring. I don't care about Sucre, T-bag, or C-Note.

*I haven't given up on Lost, but I will agree that the flashbacks are "boring as hell." They were interesting and necessary when the show started, but now they just interrupt the flow of the plot.

critterdvd 03-21-07 04:10 AM

'Desperate Housewives' was seeming almost like a chore to watch, until I finally gave it up last december, and 'Veronica Mars' has been harder and harder to sit through lately as well...
