"Deus Impeditio Esuritori Nullus (No God Can Stop A Hungry Man.)"
Spoiler:
Rome is facing a dire shortage of grain, forcing Octavian to barter with Mark Antony to get new shipments sent from Egypt. But instead of agreeing to Octavian's price--money and territory--Mark Antony flatly turns him down, pointing towards an inevitable conflict between the two former allies and, perhaps, Vorenus and Pullo. As a last resort, Octavian sends Atia and Octavia to Alexandria, knowing their reception will most likely be a chilly one. At the Collegium, where Pullo is rationing out grain to increasingly restless Romans, Gaia saves her master from a caged animal's wrath, but can't save herself. After fleeing a deteriorating situation in Egypt, Posca gives Octavian the ammunition he needs to turn the people against Mark Antony, setting in motion the wheels of war.

I already saw this episode on HBO On Demand
Spoiler:

Gaia saves her master from a caged animal's wrath
This will be more amusing that it seems - at least initially.

Second to last episode, :(

This show is great. Great. I will definitely miss it.

I wish there was a way to save this show... it's a crime that there's only one episode left. It is truly one of the best on TV.

Imagine if they had more time and didn't need to skip ahead in time so much. What a shame.

ThePrimeDreamer 03-19-07 12:07 AM

Man, boy doesn't Octavian and Livia have a strange sex life...

brainee 03-19-07 01:00 AM

Livia

Yeah, the skipped years make you wish they had more seasons to tell the story they've tackled in just 2 - there's more than enough material from just the history. Browsing Roman history at wikipedia I saw that Livia was actually Octavian's third wife - but "Rome" just skips those minor details. Really looking forward to next week. The final showdowns with Octavian and Antony, and Pullo and Vorenus!

MrX 03-19-07 03:04 AM

Solid episode

I liked Vorenus describing Pullo to Caesarion when he asked about his father.

Livia and Octavian:lol: I thought he was the one that was going to beat her

Charlie Goose 03-19-07 07:18 AM

The scene with Vorenus dismissing Atia and Octavian was heartbreaking for the two women. And seeing Pullo take his revenge on Gaia was very tense, especially since she seemed to have changed in the last few years since she poisoned his wife.

Sad that there's only one more episode, I'm hoping for a sendoff worthy of the series.

I agree - I wish this show would not end :(

Rough sex ala Rome style - Octavian looked spent after Livia had her way with him.

bralph 03-19-07 08:42 AM

I thought Gaia had gotten pregnant from Pullo too?

Particularly with Vorenus aware that Caesarion still believed he was speaking of Julius Caesar. Then cut to Pullo speaking to Vorenus' children.

Biting off a guys tongue? Run-of-the-mill Badass.

Biting off a guys tongue… and then keeping him caged like a hamster for two years? Titus Pullo-league Badass.

The only thing that bothered me as I watched those scenes was that we were never told that Pullo is aware that Caesarion is his child, were we?

He is aware - sort of. Last season when Ceasar showed off "his" child to troops, you can see Pullo's reaction.

MrX 03-19-07 12:52 PM

You could tell Pullo knew by his reaction when Octavian told him Caesarion must die

Great ep, I am going to MISS this show! Pullo finding out his wife was poisoned then choking that bltch, was gripping, that was one tense scene. Then he just tossed her in the pool like garbage.

Wow!

Wow!

I was wondering what that "pool" was. Was he feeding her to crocs or was that basically like a sewage dump?

From the summary on the HBO site

Enraged, Pullo strangles the last breath from Gaia and carries her limp body outside, dumping it like a bag of trash in the muddy water.

sdcrym 03-19-07 03:41 PM

I liked Pullo's Clinton-style thumb point when he was addressing the plebs.

tcoursen 03-19-07 03:45 PM

I will definately miss this show. One of the few shows that I actually look forward to watching.

I do hope that there is NOT a Vorenus vs Pullo showdown.

Me, too. They went through lot together and I really hope they didn't ended up killing each other. Through Wikipedia said that in real history that they were bitter rival (fighting for highest rank), but didn't mention if they ever face against each other.

It's clearly going to happen. The whole reason Pullo is asked to come along is to appeal directly to Vorenus (and in essence, Antony).

Though they might not fight, as is looks like Vorenus is starting to waver in support for Antony.

Red Dog 03-19-07 05:51 PM

I loved Vorenus' conversation with Antony's kid.

I felt like I was watching Skinamax for this episode. ;)
