Did everyone also see the end credits footage with Roy and his brother?

In it, Roy said...
Spoiler:
he's going to kill Jim Halpert. (Of course, not literally, but Jim better watch out!)

Does J.J. Abrams direct random shows like this often?
He generally sticks to shows he had a creative hand in; the only other exception I know of was when he directed an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Could that explain the oddity some are feeling with this episode?
Maybe. I'll spare everyone my "guest director" rant from last week's episode thread.

No, you're not the only one. Michael has gone from self-centered and clueless, but with some redeeming values, to being a complete loon. They need to dial him WAAAAAAAY back.

Agreed. He is too over the top once again, as with the wedding episode. Michael is at his best when he is trying his hardest, but failing miserably.

Dwigt: Do you watch Battlestar Galactica?

Party Guest: No.

Dwight: Then you are an idiot.

I didn't think was even close to being over the top as he was at the wedding. He said a few uncomfortable things in public at a party. He has been doing the same thing since the beginning of the series.

I didn't think Michael was so bad, he was even the rational one in a number of scenes. Dwight got a little out of hand, but it was funny.

Based on Kevin's reaction at the wedding and the fact we never hear about her again, I take it as she was an Escort. Wouldn't surprise me with how desperate Toby always is.

BTW, last night's episode was a classic. Loved the Jan "That's what she said" line.

Also, can Jan be pregnant? That is what my wife thought of immediately when Jan said she didn't feel well. That would be comedy gold.

I think it was more an excuse to Michael why she was in a bad mood so he would not start crying.

Ya, that was my first thought when Kevin went "Ya... the gym..."

It's very similar to Seinfeld for me. Carell is the star as was Jerry and I liked Jerry but he was by far my least favorite character on Seinfeld. Usually I couldn't care less what Jerry was up to in an episode while I found George's, Elaine's and Kramer's storylines much more interesting.
Agreed and the Seinfeld analogy is a good one

I missed what they said at the very beginning about Roy's brother and the jet skis. All later jet ski references went right over my head. Can somebody fill me in?

I like how they could be setting up another promotion for Jim. Should they ever let Michael go (a la the British version), Jim is now on the CFO's good side.

I get sick of Michael at times, too, particularly during the last three weeks. Sometimes I just feel uncomfortable watching some of th scenes he is involved in. And then they have him go redeem himself at least once per ep.

Dwight was a bit over the top last night, but the scene in the kid's room was top notch.

Karen and Jim were good last night, hopefully they aren't in a hurry to reunite him w/ Pam, although I am sure that will come by the season finale.

I can totally see Roy flipping out in public in regards to Pam and Jim. The ending was perfect.

My mind must have gone blank, but why would Andy want to kill Jim, too, when he gets back?

That's back-to-back great episodes for The Office. Maybe they're onto something with these guest directors. Who should they get for the episode with the inevitable Jim/Roy showdown?

Karen was adorable this episode. They better be careful. They're making her too damn likable to the point that we'll hate Jim if/when he breaks her heart.

He's done other "public performance" bits before, like when he was "walking down the stairs".
Maybe that's what you were thinking of?

Same here. Something about having to sell the jet skis. Anyone?

I'm surprised that eveyone thinks Dwight's house inspection was over the top. He did pretty much the same thing when Michael bought his condo. His actions in this episode seemed no different to me. I figure since Dwight lives in an old farmhouse, he's obsessed with solid construction and tends to judge all other dwellings against his.

I am a little surprised that the kid didn't freak out when he woke up and saw Dwight sitting in his room...

Combine alcohol with finding out your fiance cheated on you and potentially called off the wedding because of it- I think the reaction was believable.

When Pam invited Roy to the bar, he said he was going out drinking with his brother because the brother was depressed since he took a bath on some jet skis, in other words had to sell them for much less than he paid for them.

At the end of the episode, Roy's brother had to spend what little money he received from the jet skis to pay the bar owner for the damage so they wouldn't be arrested.

I don't think they ever said why (I could be wrong), but they just said his brother had to sell the jet skis and he lost a lot of money on the sale.
