Law & Order Franchise or CSI Franchise
NOTE: if this has been done before i am sorry.
If you had to choose between either the 3 L&0 series or the 3 CSI series which one would you choose? you can choose neither if you want.
Law & Order series:
Law & Order-first aired-September 13, 1990: the longest running of the 3 law & order series naturally and span off 2 other sucessful series and one failed series.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit-first aired-September 20 1999: the second longest running L&O series. this is my favorite of the 3 L&0 series.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent-first aired-September 30, 2001: the shortest running of the L&O series and probally the least sucessful.
CSI series:
CSI-first aired-October 6 2000: the longest running of the 3 CSI series natuarally and span off 2 sucessful series, unlike L&O the CSI franchise has never Span off a cancelled series.
CSI: Miami-first aired-September 23, 2002: the second longest CSI series and a monday night ratings king. main star David Caruso's first big hit since leaving NYPD: Blue in season 2.
CSI: NY-first aired-September 22, 2004: the shortest running of the 3 CSI series. through the first season was not that good to alot of people the second season picked things up and this season (3) it has beat now former hit series lost in the ratings since lost came back. this is my favorite of the 3 CSI series.

I guess it's the L&O franchise but nowadays I only watch the original.
Tried watching CSI and thought it was ok. Some episodes were really good, but the show still feels a bit too graphic for me.
Guess either way, I think we have to agree that both are being rerun to death on cable.

I'm a huge Law & Order fan and I'll watch every single episode of all the shows until they end. I like CSI:LV and watch it pretty religiously but I can't stand Miami so I didn't even give New York a try. The thing that separates Law & Order from CSI is the characters. I've liked just about everyone from L&O universe, but in my opinion the only good characters on CSI are from Las Vegas.

Working in law enforcement, I despise CSI. I can't make myself suspend disbelief to the extent that it forces you to.
L&O, while definitely show-biz'ed up, is a lot more realistic and easier for me to watch without yelling at the screen.

Went with L&O, even though both have aspects that I don't like. The worst, however, is CSI:MIAMI with it's super-saturated colors, and David Caruso's performance: he proclaims each line with more gravitas than Moses reading from the tablets.

I've seen every episode of the various CSIs, but I don't think I've ever seen a complete episode of L&O.
The problem is: if I get into a series, I feel the need to see everything. That's a LOT of L&O to catch up on.

I just started watching CSI, and probably have never sat through a whole L&O episode.
I like Vegas the best, and don't really ever watch NY.
With constant re-runs I have been watching 1 or 2 episodes a night, but now that I have seen quite a few of them, it all seems so redundant. But with nothing else on but Reba re-runs, there isn't much of a choice.

And Trial by Jury, which I thought was quite good.

Law & Order - I like it a lot, although I'm not a regular viewer. It's comforting to know that I can turn on TNT at any time and have a good chance of seeing it. I probably watched all or some of at least ten episodes during the marathon this past weekend.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - Haven't seen
Law & Order: Criminal Intent - Haven't seen
CSI - Only seen 1 or 2 episodes
CSI: Miami - Seen it a few times. Laughably bad, imo. I've never seen a show where everyone in the cast is terrible.
CSI: NY - Watched it a few times when it premiered. Lost interest quickly.
So L& O goes 1 for 3 and CSI is 0 for 3.

Wow. That Caruso compilation is bad.
I mean, Orbach () would do something similar, but not so obviously

Neither, I am so tired of "murder of the week" shows. Any other crimes ever committed? Without a Trace - better than all 6! (But we do miss Jerry Orbach and his one-liners.)

I prefer CSI overall. I haven't seen too many eps of the original L&O and SVU is a solid show but too dark for my taste and CI was my favorite until that got darker (more serious) as well.
I only watch the original CSI on a regular basis but once in a while will catch NY. CSI: Miami has 2-3 episodes in syndication on every night but I'll only tune in to get a good laugh watching Caruso (although the stories are pretty good).
