I don't know why, but it made me laugh that the synopsis includes that the
Spoiler:
cat
will also die...

That's what makes it special!

We're so used to seeing people die on these shows, but
Spoiler:
when a wittle cat is gonna die? Well the only response would be "awww, that's so sad!" It would be even bigger if it was a dog.

Was there a first episode that dealt with this "killer"? If so then what was the episode called?

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to wait until this season hits dvd and then watch these episodes. So many shows and so little time. Thanks again!!!

Good episode but a little obvious they're trying to be "hip" using different camera angles (like in the beginning, POV shot from the miniature model). And once again, Catherine is still hung up about Kepplar's death. Was only one line but there had to be more to that relationship...

If they kept the whole miniature sculpture aspect away from the press and public, then how did the lady know to copy the killers m.o. as her "way out"? If she wanted to die then why care if people know how you were killed? Who would go through all of that trouble to try and blame it on someone else when you will be dead anyways?

She found out about the miniature killer after the cops tracked her apartment down and prevented her from being killed earlier in the show.

She knew because Brass showed her photos of the miniature set up and being a psychologist, she probably knew the guy was serial killer or perhaps they mentioned that the person who made it killed before. As for why care how she died, could've been pride. Personally, while it wasn't a cop out, the death was only included to throw off the audience... So yeah, that part didn't make much sense.

Wasn't it the brother who used the mini killer as an excuse to off his sick sister? I thought that made perfect sense.

-Miniature killer attempts to kill woman
-CSI prevents this by finding her first
-Cop gets killed in her place
-Brother uses this as opportunity to kill sister
-Mini killer still at large

Ah, I was under the impression that she planned it with him but maybe he did do it on his own...

Yeah, he did it on his own I believe. Thats why he went on the news and brought all that media attention to the mini-killer, to help focus the blame away from himself.

I love how not only did they not put an end to the mini-killer storyline, they actually widened the scope as to who it may be.

Instead of getting closer to the person's capture, they are now further away.

"there must be 12 kids at that birthday party"
"and that was just one birthday"

I don't think so. His questioning revolved around the idea of assisted suicide (and that Nevada doesn't have an exclusion for it). I'm pretty sure the shrink took advantage of the mini-killer situation to have her brother kill her to end her agony. It was she who insisted on going home, she who insisted on not having a police guard...

So it looks a combination of her choice for her brother to kill her and then the brother used the media to make them think the miniature killer did it. But that still doesn't explain why she couldn't do it herself. Seems like a shitty thing to do, making her brother live with what he did, whether it was right or not and possibly (as he did) get caught and sent to prison.

A-ha! It makes more sense now after reading these posts. So the brother did NOT actually make the model sent to Grissom 4 weeks earlier. I was confused as to why they ruled out the original guy for the first three and how the brother knew enough about the miniature killer to have made the model.

I'm glad they didn't catch the killer... I kind of like this story line and I hope that the payoff is BIG!!

I want the killer to be able to outsmart CSI every step of the way !

Please: I would LOVE to know the name of the track that was played after they were discovering the dead cop. That music is sooo inspired... and inspiring! Anybody knows?

I'm glad they had a plausible explanation for keeping the minature killer story going. This is a great arc.

Anyone think the Miniature Killer might be Sarah?

At some point, she would have been in the Foster care system...

Wow, that's certainly an interesting idea. But was there anything in the episodes dealing with the foster father that might've suggested she knew him (a la trying too hard to seem like they didn't know each like what happened between Kepplar and that other guy)?

francious, there are sites that have the CSI musidc on it, just do a search.
I enjoyed the episode. I like how they have expanded the premise of the show and given everyone more to do but created this nice miniature murder storyline.
Creepy.

IIRC when they were considering a copycat the idea of someone in law enforcement or even the crime lab being responsible did come up; they may at least make her a suspect...
