Superbowl HDTV: Anyone else have sound problems?

I was at a buddies house for the game, he has a really nice HDTV. He'd just moved to a new apartment and for the time being, was getting his signal OTA. He's a pretty good distance from the broadcast antenna so placement on his end was pretty touchy. We generally had an excellent picture and sound during the game, maybe an occasional dropout. However, as soon as the commercials hit, the sound was dropping out left and right. At first we thought it was coincidence that it worked during the game, but after four hours, we were all convinced that it wasn't a problem on his end.

So, did anyone else with an HDTV have issues with sound during commercials? Not sure if it was a local thing or not, but we were watching KTVT-DT in Dallas. (North Plano, actually)

The only thing I noticed OTA was the commercial dialogue, for one second started in the L and R channels then switched to the Center channel. Didn't bother me.

The picture CBS was putting out looked stunning throughout. By the way.

I didn't notice any dropouts, but I did notice the difference in volume between the game broadcast and the commercial breaks. We had to turn it up every time they went to a commercial. Annoying!

I was watching over at my brother-in-law's place outside of Milwaukee and we experienced many sound dropouts on the HD channel that weren't there on the analog. Pretty sure he gets his HD through Time Warner. Quite annoying.

Weird. Like I said, it was only on the commercials. The picture did look dynamite. I saw a comparison after the State of the Union, comparing various network's HDTV feeds. The general consensus was that CBS had the best picture.

The picture looked great except when the fog took over the camera lens.

Didn't notice any drop outs other than the occassional one which affected both video and audio, this is OTA. Didn't really care for the commercials which seemed really a waste of money for what was shown/advertised. The rain really put a damper on the HD visuals.

Comcast's HD sucks. I can't sit through one show without audio dropouts and/or video glitches.

No dropouts or any problems from the picture or sound from Charter HDTV here in Atlanta, GA. The picture was stunning and the sound was great. The only complaint is for CBS (as this is the case for everything their air in HD) the volume of their shows is about 5 or 10 db's higher than the commercials. That means you have to turn the volume up to hear the commercials and then turn it back down so you won't go deaf when the show comes back on. All other channels seem ok, but CBS is really bad, so I think it is a feed thing from them.

We had some dropouts when going in and out of commercial...this was on Charter digital cable. There were more in the beginning, fewer later on.

I was watching it in HD OTA west of you in Fort Worth. Several people at my party noted that the sound mix was "off" and the commercials just sounded weird. Sometime during the 3rd quarter it glitched and then the sound was running 4 seconds after the video.

We tried watching it at that point but couldn't bear it (no pun intended) so we switched to the DirectTV HD feed and that one was ok.

Since then everything I watched OTA has been normal so something must have been up with the local CBS audio SB night.

I also had frequent audio dropouts during commercials of the HD broadcast here in Indianapolis.

It was very frustrating during my superbowl party...
