Scrubs - 02/01/07 - "His Story IV"

http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/5...ubscastai3.jpg

Spoiler:
A look at the world according to Kelso, who befriends an Iraq War veteran (Michael Weston) being treated at Sacred Heart. The soldier sparks political bickering among the staffers as they divide along party lines and end up neglecting the patient as they continue to argue. Meanwhile, J.D. looks for an apartment.

Should be an interesting episode. If the show continues for another season, I hope they do a story for either Rotinaj or The Todd. :)

They already did one with Janitor last season. I don't think The Todd's that important of a character for us to spend an episode in his head in.

All though I think it could be an interesting story. A way to show that he is really more then just sex.

Groucho 02-01-07 02:01 PM

Didn't they do an episode about Todd where he figures out he's gay and gets sensitive? Turns out it's an act, and he's really bisexual?

pinata242 02-01-07 02:12 PM

I don't want The Todd to be about more than just sex. Status Quo Five!

I feel like the chances for this are getting better and better. The syndication has been a huge hit and can only be helping the new eps ratings. I personally know probably over 10 people who never saw a single episode until syndication that absolutely love the show now.

I can watch three syndicated eps a night, one after the other (TBS, TBS, NBC), and still not get enough Scrubs... I'm gonna have to get the seasons on DVD.

a guy i work with never got why i thought the show was so funny. now that its in sydication he wont shut up about it. he went from saying "its ok...i laugh maybe twice an episode" to saying " its the best sitcom hes seen in years".

Oy vey...I enjoy Scrubs but "best sitcom in years". I'm guessing he doesn't get HBO or watch DVDs to miss Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Somehow the phrase "Day late, dollar short" kept running through my head. If they wanted to do this episode then a year or two would have been the time to do it. Now it just feels like a "Me too" thing considering all the debate of late. I'm betting they had this ep written for awhile but it was iced till now.

I'm voting this "controversial issues" episode an aborted attempt at social commentary.

Snowmaker 02-01-07 08:46 PM

I want the janitor's salt and pepper shaker.

Excellent episode. I wasn't quite sure how a Bob Kelso narrated episode would be, but it was awesome!

"Slagathor" and Kelso dressed in nurses scrubs were the biggest laughs of the night for me.

Kelso's "suggestion box" and Ted being a magic 8-ball was very funny also.

I knew I was a little too invested in the characters when my heart sank when Elliot announced she was a Republican. I had to remind myself that it was a character making the proclamation, not the actress. Damn, she was looking good in the skirt and lab coat! :)

MrX 02-01-07 10:57 PM

I liked the coffee cups with Elliot quotes on them:lol:

Elliot actually mentioned she was a Republican way back in either S1 or S2. It was kinda an offhand comment (to JD, or one of her boyfriends; I can't remember), but I guess the writers decided to expand on it for this episode.

Darn, I guess I'll have to go rewatch those episodes. :)

I remember that, but it still broke my heart a little bit to hear her declare it so confidently.

I watch this show too much.

The episode didn't really go where I expected it to, though. I figured it was going to be how Kelso seemed to be lazy but really works just as hard at a more difficult job than the rest.

I t was better than the musical episode, but I would prefer to keep politics out of my sitcoms.

The Bus 02-02-07 08:17 AM

The politics seemed really forced and out of line with this episode. Still pretty good overall.

The Marmaduke thing was the funniest, I thought.

I liked that, and the pickle part in the beginning.

"I need this.."

ENDContra 02-02-07 08:19 AM

Honestly I really didnt like having these characters discuss the war, regardless of their opinion. There are some shows where its an ok topic, but this isnt one of them. It just felt really out of place for this show...but maybe that was the point. Great episode otherwise.

Guilty as charged! I started watching in syndication and on Comedy Central. I started recording the new season on my DVR with the hopes that I could start watching it after Comedy Central finished up with season 5. I'm happy to report that yesterday's episode was the first Scrubs episode I've seen live. Ever. Good stuff.

Patman 02-02-07 08:33 AM

I think Bill Lawrence thinks this is the last season of Scrubs, so he might as well get his 2 cents in on the war as well. Didn't like that aspect of it much, could have used the episode to really get into Kelso's world, but perhaps there just wasn't enough material to carry them for 22 minutes.

Meglos 02-02-07 09:25 AM

"I love you, Johnny."

MrX 02-02-07 09:37 AM

Lawrence said in an interview about a month ago they told him not to wrap it up and he'd have one more year, if NBC doesn't renew ABC will pick it up.
