I too agree on the 'filler episode' sentiments.

I agree too. The first half of the episode was much better than the second half. The second half wasted way too much time on the "concentration camp" plotline that seems to have been much ado about nothing. If they're gonna subject us to Regina King on a weekly basis, at least make it amount to something important.

It was an okay episode. Not one of Surnow and Loceff's better efforts. I thought the whole Walid storyline was wasted.

I cannot wait for Jack and Grey's 2nd encounter in the chair next week. Loved Jack's line "You will experience pain like you've never imagined."

This was for my money the worst episode of 24 ever and for the first time I don't really care about.......well, anything. Last week's reveal was just too over the top even for this show. I'll still watch but this is like watching some past his prime athlete stumble around and embarrass himself.

Yeah, it was stupid, but it moved the story along...kind of.

If there were no filler at all (ACTION, ACTION, ACTION), the comment would be about how far-fetched the series has become.

Just that.

Even the best TV writers have enough common sense to know you can't write 24 episodes of non-stop slam, bam, thank you maam action. They have to slow down the pace and have a little more plot and character development which alot of people call "filler" episodes.

I agree 100% with MartinBlank's comment.

i think the lack of jack sorta took the air out of this episode.. he had pretty much no screen time for the whole middle half-hour..

It should take Karen about 20 minutes to reach LA, and another 5 minutes to make it from the airport to CTU's LA office.

It was filler material, and bad at that. Despite your mistaken and rather ignorant statement that by complaining about filler means we want ACTION ACTION ACTION all the time, that is not what filler means. It means that there was too much irrelevant shit that really didn't move the plot along.

They could have an entire episode without a chase, a gun being drawn and even without Jack snarling one of his little "scary" lines to a bad guy, but if the dialogue moves the plot forward in a sensible way, I'm happy.

Bad writing is bad writing, whether it's a cougar, Terri getting amnesia or the garbage "concentration camp" and blackmail subplots we were subjected to last night.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad writing issue, although there was some of that last night. My biggest problem so far this season(although I've still enjoyed it immensely for the most part) is that these new characters are not as compelling as the people they replaced. This is the price the writers are paying for getting so kill happy last year. At least when the new additions in Season 4 were underwhelming, they could always bring back Tony, Michelle, Palmer, Novick, and Mandy. Only the latter two remain, and the only way Novick could be brought back is as a replacement for either Karen Hayes or Lennox.

The good news is the next few weeks should see the introductions of Powers Boothe and Rick(y) Schroeder as well as the return of the Logans.

Doughboy -

You need to spoilerize that stuff. There are a lot of us that don't read casting reports so that they aren't spoiled.

I thought it was interesting enough, but I still don't know what that blonde in the car is up to. We haven't seen her before last week, have we? Probably CIA or something like that.

Didn't the prez say he would send her to L.A. on a military flight? Plus, it would only be what, a 4-5 hour flight? Also, the show is on L.A. time so she would actually gain 3 hours on the flight. So, it really isn't far-fetched that she would be in L.A. in 3-4 hours of show time.

well, despite the time zone difference, the flight is still a 4-5 hour flight. Sure, it might be only 2 hours later when she lands but she still has to spend 4-5 hours in the air.

"The following takes place between 1 PM and 2 PM, or 4 PM and 5 PM for those in Washington. 60 minutes to follow immediately, except on the West coast."

I wonder if Karen Hayes and Dr. Bashir will fly past each other somewhere over the heartland. Didn't they say he was being sent to DC?
