I only watched the first hour but I also noticed some the dialgoue was dubbed badly like one of those cheezy martial arts movies from the 70's (Bruce Lee excluded)

We had the same audio sync issue on the HD feed in San Diego. I watched the first half hour and recorded the rest. I read a review that said if you get through the first 3-4 hours of the series it gets better after that. I'm not sure I'm a good one to judge it because I don't seem to be a fan of Burns' style. Whereas others found the Lewis & Clark documentary he did very good, I thought it sucked the life out of an exciting adventure. I'm also in the middle of The World At War, so maybe I just have WWII overload right now.

Sorry, I just saw your post or I would've replies much sooner. The only way I knew we had the unedited version was because I read about it in the paper.

I had fairly frequent audio dropouts that lasted for a split second each during the HD feed here in Seattle.

So far I'm pretty underwhelmed but I'll give it a few more nights to see if it gets rolling at all. There just seems to be no context yet and the supposed focus on those four towns seemed pretty ill-suited to conveying the scope of the war. Hopefully it'll get better.

I Tivo'd last nights episode, but at 2-2 1/2 hours per episode and with all the premieres this week, my Tivo will get full really fast. Plus this is something I need to be motivated to watch.

My station is re-running each episode several times between now and the middle of November, so if you can't catch them this week or fit them in the Tivo, check your local listings and maybe catch a repeat somewhere.

For instance, my station is running a marathon of Episodes 1-5 back-to-back next Sunday, and then another marathon of Episodes 5-7 the Sunday after that.

They're also showing each episode every Wednesday night from October 3 to November 14.

So, if other stations around the country are anything like mine, there should be plenty of opportunities for folks to catch the series. I don't know, though, if these repeats will be in HD or not.

Almost any time I watch something on my PBS or CBS HD channels, the audio is out of sync. It especially annoys me when I try to watch Letterman. I never know if I should blame Time-Warner, the networks, or my local affiliates so I either change the channel or sit there & stew.

The audio was out of sync in the SF Bay Area as well (the HD channel anyway). It was so distracting that I couldn't watch it.

Well, PBS really screwed that up. It seems the local PBS affiliate decided multi casting in the allocated HD bandwidth was a good idea so locally it was not only grossly out of sync but as an extra special treat, it also looked like shit.

I'm assuming this is only HD OTA in Atlanta (at least for DirecTV). I have problems getting OTA through my DVR so I'll stick with SD. Might be better anyway with 14 hours of programming on my hard drive.

I hadn't planned on watching this, but saw the first 20 minutes at my parents house and was totally hooked.

I recorded the first part in HD and realized that my DVR was going to choke if I do the whole series that way. Since most of it is clips from over 60 years ago, I figure I don't need to see all the grain in HD anyway.

Just finished part 2 - never been a real war buff but this has me totally intrigued.
