how the hell did the class win best new comedy? was it the only new comedy?

i watch the show and think its not bad, but is it really the best?

JohnSlider 01-10-07 06:45 AM

I know I hate the Class, but I really enjoy watching these award shows. I loved it when Doris Roberts presented and seemingly talked to Peter Boyle, 'thought that was cool.

Are "New TV Drama" and "New TV Comedy" intentionally swapped?

fixed. The website I copied it from had it swapped. Thanks for catching it.

The Class beat 30 Rock? I watch both, but 30 Rock is hands down a terrific comedy compared to The Class. Just goes to show that the people's "chocie" is rarely the "right" one - see awards list above. -ohbfrank-

Case in point. What? No Borat?

Even Jackass: Number Two was funnier than all three of those movies combined!

DRG 01-10-07 09:46 AM

Probably my least favorite 'major' awards show. I'm not against the idea of a show celebrating what the public likes instead of the critics, but this seems to be more of 'Middle America's favorites' instead of the American public at large.

Case in point:
Male singer: Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith.

Every nominee is a country singer? In a year where James Blunt, Jamie Foxx, and Justin Timberlake (as just three examples) all had huge selling albums/singles? Not that I'm necessarily a big fan of any of those guys, but at least show some diversity among the popular acts.

riley_dude 01-10-07 03:08 PM

Click? What is this world coming to????

MrE 01-10-07 03:19 PM

All it means is that more of the people who vote for these awards voted for CLICK or <fill in anything here you disagree with here>. BFD

FuQ 01-10-07 03:28 PM

You do realize these awards are bought and paid for. They give it to the celebrities that show up or willing to record something for the show.

Yeah, these awards have long been a farce. I guess people watch them because they actually think they have a "say". But don't trust ANY awards show (are you listening MTV?) where the winners are notified far in advance.

OldBoy 01-10-07 04:26 PM

damn if Halle didn't look fiiiiine! but what the hell was she in last year to make her the action female star??? i mean was she even in X3 or did i blink and miss her?

nazz 01-10-07 05:09 PM

Not only did Click! win but Adam Sandler couldn't even be bothered to show up. He appeared live on video from vacation in Hawaii.

....and yes, Halle Berry was smoking! Could really have used an HD presentation for her.

Bell65 01-10-07 05:37 PM

ok...clearly the 'people' they pull are outright idiots...

what? jennifer aniston was in 1 movie this year? sandra bullock was in an indy, if even, and halle berre was in X3 which she didnt even want to do in the first place...nice choices...

and funny male star...robin williams???? holy fuck, some people haven't watched a movie since 1990!

AGREE!!!

-Carrie Underwood beat Shakira good lord shakira is 10 times hotter and better singer.

-Nickelback beat the red hot chili peppers thats bull!

-the class, how in the blue hell did that win.

-Greys anatomy fuck! i dont care for csi but i would have rather seen it win than this overrated garbage. actually i wanted house to win. enough of the MC.

-& Robin Williams? wow! i thought RV was just shit. Will Ferrell should have won or adam sandler through click wasn't the greatest it was better than anything Robin Williams has done lately.

if i ever become rich and famous which will never happen i will actually make it the PEOPLES CHOICE AWARDS. you choose the noms and winners.

I'm surprised they let her do that inside the building, but hey, she's Halle Berry.

Brian Shannon 01-11-07 12:00 PM

Who are the "people" that get to make the "choice"? :hscratch:

riley_dude 01-11-07 01:57 PM

I think allot of young people vote and stuff the ballot box so to speak.

The choices don't skew young enough to make me believe that. For example, I'd think Jessica Alba would be nominated and chosen over Jennifer Aniston.
