AFI's list of the Top 10 shows of 2006

They do it in alphabetical order

Battlestar Galactica
Dexter
Elizabeth I
Friday Night Lights
Heroes
The Office
South Park
24
The West Wing
The Wire

A pretty good list.

Elizabeth I is the only show I haven't seen. I would have put The Shield and Weeds in over Heroes, The West Wing, or 24.

No love for Rescue Me and The Shield. The Shield was a big miss on their part.

apparently I'm the only one who finds it odd that the American FILM institute is now ranking television shows

I'm a big fan of Prison Break....they've managed to keep up a steady pace even though they guys broke out of prison last season. Good storylines too...

I've never even heard of Dexter.

I'm not sure about The West Wing. It was a great show once but not in 2006.

I agree with the above poster. It's a really really intriguing and great dark drama.

^^ I just looked it up. It's on Showtime. That explains it, since I don't get Showtime, I'll have to wait for the DVDs.

From what I read about it it actually looks pretty good. I'm a big fan of Michael C. Hall

I only watch 5 of them.

I guess I'm doing pretty good.

But this list...oy vey! AFI run out of bogus movie lists? Now they have to get into TV?

Did "30 Rock" not qualify? Because it's definitely the best comedy on TV now.

This is actually one of the better lists that I have seen of this genre. I am not a fan of Dexter and don't know anything about Elizabeth I, but aside from that, I agree with everything on the list.

Agree. It was greatly improved from 2005, but still shouldn't be on the list.

Good list, but West Wing and South Park could definately be replaced by better shows like House, etc. Glad they got The Wire in there.

Other than a couple episodes of South Park, I've never seen an episode of any of those shows. Or the Shield, Weeds, House, CSI (I've seen 1 of the miami ones), or any of the Law and Order shows.

That is amazing. I'll admit to never seeing The Shield, and I'm not a fan of CSI or Law and Order, but I have seen them.

What to you watch, or are you more of a movie guy and very little TV?
