30 Rock - "Jack Meets Dennis" - 11/30/06

Liz confesses she went back to her ex (Dean Winters) because he asked; Jack takes it upon himself to be Liz's mentor.

This show goes from strength to strength.

Baldwin and Fey could talk about anything and I'd watch it, the back and forth between them is fantastic.

Jack's hand signals to Liz were great

His line about he couldn't take off his beeper because he was expecting a call a from 1983 was hilariousrotfl

Giantrobo 12-01-06 03:58 AM

Another funny ep.

Charlie Goose 12-01-06 08:31 AM

I like the rapid fire questioning as Alec Baldwin was trying to trip up Jane Krakowski's lying about her age.

That Elizabeth Taylor shit was just stupid. Rachel Dratch left SNL for this?

I thought Dratch was supposed to cameo in every episode in a different role. But, by my count, this is only the third time she's appeared?

Big Boy Laroux 12-01-06 10:25 AM

it was overdone in the previews, but the age scene still had me laughing.

favorite song? mowtown philly by Boyz II Men.

wmansir 12-01-06 10:28 AM

It's at least four times. I may be missing one, but even so I don't think she has appeared in every episode.

1. Cat wrangler
2. Maid on the Yacht
3. butch teenage Lemon in a flashback
4. Liz Taylor

Big Boy Laroux 12-01-06 10:32 AM

i thought fey played lemon in the flashback... wasn't dratch the gym coach or something?

I think she's doing six episodes.

This episode was great. I think I'm starting to enjoy 30 Rock more than The Office.

Jimmy James 12-01-06 11:56 AM

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but Dratch was originally supposed to be the lead on the fake show. The network didn't think she was pretty enough. It really kind of screwed her over because she left SNL (and NBC by that point knew they were going to cut the budget, so there wasn't really any opportunity to do a Parnell-style-hire-back). Fey went to these idiotic cameos I'm guessing out of pity because they pretty much suck ass.

That said, I think this was the strongest episode yet. Baldwin was on fire.

Pretty much mirrors the early episodes of teh show as well.

Big Worms 12-01-06 12:41 PM

Very funny episode! I am so glad I gave this show a chance.

MrX 12-01-06 12:57 PM

TVguide is saying NBC picked it up for a full season:up:

megashock5 12-01-06 02:38 PM

Best exchange of the night:

"That's a sharp tie, Dennis."
"The douchebag at the front made me wear it."
"Does HE know you're the Beeper King?"

I'm considering starting to call people at work Lemon just because I like the way that Baldwin says it on the show. Their banter is great.

Cant believe i forgot it last night,i must be getting old :brickwl2:

boogieman03 12-01-06 04:57 PM

You should be able to catch the full episode on the NBC website.

Peep 12-01-06 04:58 PM

Funny episode. I found the background score VERY intrusive, however.

Tried that but it says clip is not available from my location :scratch2:

Patman 12-01-06 06:02 PM

Just the way Jack calls Liz "Lemon" cracks me up. It's weird seeing "Johnny from Rescue Me" as Liz's new boyrat.

That was awesome. Once again Baldwin nails it.

Tracy telling them he was walking backwards into the Starbucks and Liz's boyfriend giving her a noogie was also rotfl

I think it's even weirder seeing her with Ryan O'Reily from "Oz." :)
