CBS Cancels 3 Lbs.
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - CBS has canceled its Stanley Tucci medical drama "3 Lbs." after three low-rated airings. The show most recently drew 8 million viewers. It marks the second new CBS drama to crash in the Tuesday 10 p.m. slot this fall, following the Ray Liotta crime saga "Smith." |
We don't need any more doctor shows.

While I agree, it's better than another cop/lawyer show.

This was the one new show (aside from Shark) that the wife liked. She will definately be annoyed. I didn't care for it too much (but miss Smith quite a bit).
|
That's only one pound per week!
|
My Dad was telling me how good this show was, I watched it hated it, and predicted it's near-immediate demise. I win this round.

I liked the 1st 3 episodes, but I wasn't optimistic on it's long term survival. I'll miss seeing Indira Varma....I hope she lands another TV role.
|
I think the 5 remaining unaired episodes will probably be posted on CBS' Innertube site at some point as they did with Smith.

CBS Tuesday at 10pm is the new Fox Friday. I think CBS is just too spoiled. The ratings both Smith and 3 Lbs. delivered were not terrible by any means, just terrible when put on par with their own shows. Those sorts of numbers would be considered a minor hit on Fox, and would at least get time to breath on NBC and ABC if not a second season.

Fucking hell...I was really liking this show - had a great cast. I also really liked Smith too... fuck you CBS.
|
I guess if CBS doesn't see double digits, they will pull the plug.
|
Speaking of cancellations, has the shows The Nine and Six Degrees of Seperation (I think both shows were ABC shows) been cancelled? It seems like I have not seen new episodes of either in quite some time.

It still makes me chuckle that House (17.16m viewers this past Tuesday, without the aid of a strong lead-in), Fox's biggest scripted hit, is produced by NBC/Universal.
Coincidentally, if House were on CBS, it would have been canceled after its 3rd episode (Actually, probably its second, since it only managed 6.7 million viewers a week until its post-American Idol spot.) |
One of the worst titles for a network tv show .... ever.
What genius' thought that one up. |
I didn't think it'd last long from the start...so not real surprised.
|
What the hell is "3 lbs?"
...is what I would be saying if I had not watched the Cowboys/Colts game the other day and seen the ad for it. Thats the last I've seen of CBS since then. |
Since it's a show about brain surgeons, the human brain supposedly weighs 3 lbs.
Even when I saw the title of the show, I didn't get it right away. I don't think most Americans even know that stat. |
I watched one episode, I guess the last one? that was on this week, and was bored. I tried to like it, but I fell asleep during a commercial. There just wasn't anything about it that made me like it and want to tune in again.

I think there are times when it's not just being spoiled about performance -- it's about having no faith in the direction a show is going. While it's hard to claim that about Smith, I can see how that might be the issue with a midseason launch like this one.
|
No surprise here...One of the worst shows I watched this year. When the lady was told she had a brain tumor and was basically going to die, she and her husband were nice and calm especially when the supposed greatest neurologists ever decided to be all willy nilly with the brain surgery. Hell Jericho is a more believable story than this was.

Guess he's not going to need that hot air balloon..
