Jericho - "Vox Populi" - 11/29/06

"Vox Populi"
Spoiler:
Gray organizes a manhunt for Jonah, against Mayor Green's wishes, when one of Jericho's own turns up dead; an unlikely face returns to Jericho.

Groucho 11-29-06 01:03 PM

On tonight's episode:
  • Despite the fact that there are now two doctors in town, it's up to Skeet to miraculously save the Sparkle Motion lady.
  • The townspeople learn that stringing up a bunch of 60 watt bulbs in the center of town probably wasn't the best use for their new generator.
  • The Mayor and his opponent debate whether city employees should get Hanukkah and Kwanzaa off as paid holidays.
  • A passing reference is made to the nuclear attack that devastated most of the United States (you know, for Sweeps)
  • Hawkins does something mysterious.

kenbuzz 11-29-06 01:07 PM

G-man. Funny stuff, but I don't get who the Sparkle Motion lady is in ref to.

Donnie Darko. She (the shopkeeper in Jericho) was the head of the Sparkle Motion dance group. And we got such classics like: "Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion."

Ref to her character in Donnie Darko.

djbrown 11-29-06 01:33 PM

Was there a thread for Jericho last week? Didn't pull up with a search, and was looking for it after having watched it last night.

Mopower 11-29-06 01:53 PM

We could find out why the Chinese are using old planes with American RFI tags to drop their supplies too us. Naw, lets just wait until next season when the show has been canceled to find that out.

Spoilers please! :grunt:

I do hope it ends with a bang like Prison Break ;), so that I feel a need to come back next year!

Sure it will - the mayoral election and hanging chads in the recount. Now that's a cliffhanger!

Mopower 11-29-06 07:16 PM

Dale should have shivved that bitch years ago.

Patman 11-29-06 08:09 PM

This was actually a decent episode, and sets up the next 12 episodes in 2007.

Red Dog 11-29-06 08:20 PM

The sign language spat was so stupidly funny.

No, and I was so glad.... I thought this show died on here.

DeadLamb 11-29-06 09:45 PM

Oh come on, now they have it that Hawkins can't throw a football, at all? I've never met a guy who can't throw a football at least as the distance of a backyard unless he had no hands.

also, country nuked, town cut off, show down with mercenaries, fire in main town, lack of food, plane drops from china (maybe?), lady murdered etc etc etc etc etc etc etc AND Hawkins wife still goes "Why can't you spend more time with us at home?" rotfl That's just some classic wife action right there..

Good thing those nukes going off put an end to football/basketball/baseball season and I would guess closed the local golf course (if they have one) or his marriage would REALLY be in trouble..

All good points. :lol::thumbsup:

This show really is amazing in that for almost all of it, it is not evident that the US has been nuked.

nazz 11-29-06 10:34 PM

After watching this entire season, I think I lost all desire tonight to continue into the next with one word.

Spoiler:
Roger.

I actually assumed he'd be coming back once things got hot and heavy between Jake & Emily...didn't expect it this soon.

I figure all of the people walking into town allows for new characters for the second half of the season, and for future seasons.

marty888 11-30-06 12:01 AM

Maybe by the time it returns a few months from now, I'll have forgotton how cliche most of the episodes have been.

Maybe not ....

Groucho 11-30-06 12:09 AM

Finally, we get the zombies!

Right before the hiatus.

mrpayroll 11-30-06 01:03 AM

Well this show has become 100% udder crap!

SEE YOU SOON!

WTF?

I will surely not miss it for the next 3 months.

Chris

mbs 11-30-06 02:09 AM

What happened to that chick that Jake was making time with (not his ex, the teacher girl)? She hasn't appeared in the last 2 or 3 episodes, has she?

I enjoy this show, but wouldn't call it good. And I'll keep watching it, assuming it doesn't conflict with shows I like better.

Ayre 11-30-06 06:16 AM

This show has become a guilty pleasure. With so many plot holes, clichés and just plain silly moments, it is a wonder Jericho is still on the air .... and I am still watching it. This show clearly is more of a bad soap opera than a social commentary drama

The "Manly" ... "Steamy" name scene was the worst for me. Simply bad writing. I just hope they have one more bomb left for that farm.

dstrauss 11-30-06 06:29 AM

I'm glad that with civilization gone, they still had time to print up signs for the mayoral election.

It's good to know that their patrols are so effective that they missed 50+ people walking into town down a major road.

FYI, the Morse Code from the last two weeks:

"It begins with"
"6 and ends with"
