I didn't even know he was sick. Very sad, he was a very good journalist. I would have thought that of the remaining anchors left on 60 Minutes, Mike Wallace would have gone 1st.

Somewhere in heaven he and Hunter S. Thompson are blowing shit up with ridiculous amounts of firepower.

That's really sad. He was a great reporter and I hate that he'll not be on the air anymore.

Some idiot edited his Wikipedia entry to say "died November 9, 2006 of a shark attack". There's also something about 'father of Scott Chase' on there that doesn't seem to fit.

You know... You can edit it too...

Sad news about Ed though. He was indeed a good newsman. Much better than your average talking head.

That might not be the case. I imagine it has been semi-protected. I think that precludes anons *and* newly registered accounts from editing.

I never watched much 60 Minutes, but I know by reputation that he was the cool 60 Minutes guy and a damned good news guy. My heart goes out to his family.

Sad to hear, I grew up watching 60 minutes and CBS Evening news and he was an integral part of it.

There was a great tribute to Ed on 60 Minutes tonight. The entire show was about him.
