That list is a joke. I like "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" but to called them the best two songs of the 80's is ridiculous. Also Rick Springfield in the top 20??? WTF.

No. Fucking. Doubt!

And, sorry to beat the U2-love drum again, but "Where the Streets Have No Name" is the greatest song ever in the history of ever. Not having it on the list is like not having air on a list of human necessities.

Not that I think this song deserved to be at the top or anything, but I remember Cutting Crew's "I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight" was really big. I don't remember seeing anyone mention it, but it's one of those songs I still remember playing at school dances when I was in high school in the mid-'90s. At least I don't remember seeing "Red, Red Wine" on there. That songs makes me want to

But I rarely agree with any of these lists. Hell, I'd be happy to put Pixies up there at the top.

Listen, i understand the whole fact that people are annoyed about what didn't make it onto the top 100 list. But it was based off of what people voted. If you truly cared than you should have voted. It happens.

When I was in Philly over Labor Day in 1995, their local Pop/Rock station (Y100) did a top 300 songs from the 80s. I went down to the local market and bought a ton of cassette tapes and stayed up all night and recorded almost all of them (I think I'm missing about 30-35 of them).

I still listen to that list as the definative list and have been trying to procure every last one of them.

Ah, so just by voting, that would have ensured that each of our respective picks would have gained entry on the list, yes? Rubbish.

Not to mention the fact that they probably had a set list of songs to vote for, and that list probably didn't include any of the songs people are mentioning in this thread. Otherwise they'd have made the list in the first place. Simple as that.

Y100 closed a year or two ago . Now a really poor hip hop station has replaced it.

In any real list of the 100 best songs of the 1980s, at least 90 of them would be from 1983 and earlier.

True, but it still deserves to be on the list.

Along with "Kiss On My List," "You Make My Dreams," "Private Eyes," "Your Imagination," "Did It In A Minute," "Maneater," "Family Man," "One On One," and "Say It Isn't So."

I think this list was made by younger people who weren't around in the early 80s, and have no idea how great Hall and Oates are to anyone who grew up then.

At least A-Ha's "Take On Me" made it, one of my favorite songs of all time. That's all I cared about.

To add to what I said in my previous posts.....

They included "Call Me" by Blondie. I would have skipped that, and included "The Tide Is High" instead.

The absence of "Betty Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes is inexcusable. This reinforces my belief that the people who made this list are young idiots who weren't around in the early 80s.

They included "London Calling" by the Clash. While I like that song, and love that album, they should have included "Rock The Casbah" instead.

"He Could Be The One" and "Johnny Are You Queer" by Josie Cotton are not here. They should be.

There's no Fleetwood Mac here. They should have included "Hold Me" and "Gypsy."

They should have included "Jukebox" by the Flirts.

I'm glad they included "Our Lips Are Sealed" by the Go Go's. They also should have included "We Got The Beat," "Vacation," and "Head Over Heels." The Go Go's are one of the best artists of the 80s, and all 4 of those songs deserves to have been included.

"Electric Avenue" by Eddie Grant should have been included, but I'm sure the idiots who made this list don't know who he is.

"Love Plus One" by Haircut 100 should have been here.

"All Those Years Ago" by George Harrison should have been here. Curse these bastards for not putting this gem on the list.

"Girls Like Me" and "Shelley's Boyfriend" by Bonnie Hayes should have been here.

I'm glad they included "I Love Rock And Roll" by Joan Jett. But they also should have included "Do You Wanna Touch Me," which is a much better song.

Where the heck is "I Feel For You" by Chaka Khan? Oh yeah, that's right, this list was made by people who weren't alive then.

"Boy From New York City" by Manhattan Transfer is not here. These people have no taste whatsoever.

Of course these idiots didn't include "Abracadabra" by Steve Miller - because this list was made by idiots.

Anyone who was alive 25 years ago loves "Words" by Missing Persons. It's not here. This list was made by brain dead morons.

"Only The Lonely" by the Motels is not here. These people do not care about good music.

"Pass The Dutchie" by Musical Youth is not here. I am not surpirsed that this great classic was left off.

They should have included "Queen Of Hearts" by Juice Newton.

These idiots neglected to include the groovy masterpiece "The Other Woman" by Ray Parker Jr. On the positive side, they skipped his horrible "Ghostbusters."

I'm glad they included "Brass In Pocket" by the Pretenders. At least someone there has a brain. But they also should have included "Back On The Chain Gang" and "Middle Of The Road."

No Quarterflash? Those bastards. They should have included "Find Another Fool." (I know most people prefer "Harden My Heart," but not me.)

My favorite song of all time, "Goodbye To You" by Scandal, is not here. It's on dozens of multiartist 80s compilations. You can listen to it 100 times in a row and not get tired of it. There is no excsue for not including this one.

"I Eat Cannibals" by Total Ceolo is not here. Ugh! Well, at least they had the decency to include "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow.

"I Know What Boys Like," "Square Pegs," and "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses should all be here. But none of them are here. Sigh.

The absence of "Kids In America" by Kim Wilde is more proof that these people were not alive or watching MTV in the early 80s.

The problem with the '80s is that music changed quite - you have the New Wave of the early '80s (the music I like) and the hair bands of the late '80s (which I don't like), along with a few rock bands tossed in as well as a couple teenie bopper acts (Debbie Gibson / Tiffany). Is Jon Bon Jovi the best representation of the '80s? Well, not in my book, but as a good rocker from that era I would say that "Livin’ on a Prayer" wasn't a horrible choice as #1 - I would have probably put "Born in the USA" in the #1 spot (or possibly something else by Bruce Springsteen).

If it were up to me, Safety Dance would have been in the top 5 but on this list it wasn't even in the top 100.
