Saw this last night, and it gets a big  from me. Definitely the weakest episode yet, by far.
|
i agree - weak episode, but still an interesting show, ill keep watching
|
it's rather weak because the heist only involved the parts they need to do the bigger heist which would probably be in the next episode or 2.
still, it looks great and have that movie feel in it [although slower pace, because it's for TV]. I can't understand why Ray Liotta's character never saw their minivan when he was driving off from the office. I mean plate numbers and familiarity are the giveaways. Well, I just thought about it. he probably noticed and is probably just playing games with his wife. Amy Smart is hot! |
I actually enjoyed this episode much more than the second one. I am glad they decided to show how they acquire certain items for each job and not just go from one heist to the next, one after the other - with seemingly an endless amount of fancy gadgets, ids, weapons, car and such all at their fingertips. Too many shows make it seem like there is just a big warehouse for criminals to shop at to get all of their tools.
I think taking an episode or two or three to supply themselves, plan the heist, and execute the heist is a great idea for a tv series. I give this one big thumbs up. |
I agree with Hard Boiled. It's much more interesting this way, with the build-up.
And am I missing something, or is there really no reason for Hope to be so suspicious? Right away, after the first heist, she suspected Bobby. Why? |
I think Hope has known all along that Bobby is a professional thief. When the credit card robbery took place last episode, she asked him if "it was one of our guys" who did when it was reported on the news.
The show was pretty heavy-handed this episode comparing Hope trying to deal with Bobby's stealing "addiction" during her Narcotics Anonymous meeting. |
I'm just curious to see where her character ends up. As others have mentioned before, it would seem that Virginia Madsen probably wouldn't have taken this role if it was nothing more than Suzy Homemaker. If she finds out about Bobby's other life and wants in somehow, that might be a troubling plotline to write and still be believable.
|
My guess is that Amy Smart's character will cause enough problems with being recognized that maybe Virginia Madsen will have to stand in on a heist. It does seem like she has a past, or at least knows of her husband's past.
|
I'm really digging this show. I like the characters, the plots... I am so sick of cop shows - it's nice to have a "Heat-esque" criminal show for once.
|
I like how this show slowly reveals things. I thought it was interesting to learn that Hope just got out of prison 5 months ago. I wonder how long she was away from her kids?
I think she is finally happy to be living a "normal" life and she is worried as hell that Bobby is going to take it away from her again. Also, the reveal about Annie's ex-husband was interesting. I wonder when he is getting out of prison to come find her? He should have been one of the Fox River 8. :) |
I really did NOT need to know that Ray Liotta sleeps in the nude :yack:.
|
"The new season's first casualty is expected to be CBS' Smith, the drama about a group of thieves from producer John Wells (ER). It scored a low 8.4 million viewers for Tuesday's third episode. Look for drama repeats to fill the 10 ET/PT time slot as early as next week."
USA Today, fourth to last paragraph |

Still, I am enjoying the heists enough that it's one of my favorite new shows. Hoping it doesn't get the axe. |
The biggest shock to me so far is that Virginia Madsen looks way better than Amy Smart in HD. HD isn't always kind to actresses who are past their 40s, but Virginia looks stunning, whereas Amy looks a bit rougher than I expected.

Whoever had Smith in the pool looks like a winner (Unless Happy Hour doesn't come back after the World Series of course):

Wow, it is already off the CBS website's list of shows. What's sad is that Big Brother All-Stars and Rockstar Supernova are still listed there under current primetime shows, meaning they haven't exactly done a real update... they just wanted to erase the memory of this show from existence. So, 1 of the 4 new shows I actually like is gone... with two of the others on life support.
I'm hoping the remaining episodes get picked up by HDNET or someone... |
now that's a stupid move because the last episode is kind of a cliffhanger. they could have at least settled that last heist before doing this stunt. I think it's a great show as it has the movie feel in it and not cheap production tv show. I'm enjoying the show because of the intricacies of planning the heists and the other side stories.
Freakin' CBS!!!!! |
Guess I won't even bother watching this week's episode.
|
Damm ! Amy Smart putting on her panties made that episode!
The wife stuff was annoying but i want to see what happens with the Hawaiian drug lord and Simon Baker's character. Show had potential |
I find this news dissapointing as well. I thought the show was really good. I liked how they managed to have a continuingly developing storyline while still fufilling the "heist-a-week" requirement. It was really cool to see that even getting the equipment needed for a larger heist can take a lot of planning and execution of smaller heists.
Hopefully the producers can wrap up most of the storylines within the episodes that had been ordered for either future airing or DVD release. |
I deleted this episode from my DVR. No point in watching it now.
|
God damnit! :(
I was wondering where this damn show was. I even checked the website yesterday and it was still up after I noticed my DVR recording CSI instead of Smith. Maybe they'll put the other episodes out on DVD. They could've hyped this more - that might've helped. I never saw ads for it. (sigh) I don't have many shows: Lost, Rome, Sopranos, Entourage, Office and Smith. Now Smith is gone. R.I.P. |
This was one of my favorite new shows, so I am sad that it is gone as well. It was good to see Amy Smart in a weekly show, especially after seeing her again in Crank.
