Otherwise fine episode. Didn't dislike it as much as some people. It should get on a roll in a week or two after clearing up the "what happened since the finale" muck. |
"I have a crush on a gay guy."
lol When the nurse guy told Bright about his partner, my wife and I missed the real reference until Bright got that OMG look on his face. Then we were rotfl. That was great! Bright is still the brightest part about Everwood. |
Does anyone think maybe the guy isn't gay? I was wondering if perhaps he meant something else by "partner" and maybe this will be a Three's Company style misunderstanding.
|
I think he is gay. When Bright was confessing to him that he was really waiting for his best freind to get his stuff together and come home and move in I think the new rommie felt a bond and told him about his partner.
If he isn't gay, then a whole lot of hilarity is going to insue. |
The dude is gay. They made a point of making that clear in the season preview they aired last week after Smallville. My only question is why does Amy give a crap? She thought he was a cute guy, found out he was gay, and is STILL going to obsess over him? It's not like she has any emotional attatchment to him at all. She just had a crush, which is real easy to get over.
|
i love everwood, one of the best shows on right now
amy looked better i think w/ long hair, but shes still really cute right now :) good to see efram back so glad that the guy was gay, didnt want amy getting together with him |
all the commercials for the premiere showed scenes that werent in the episode which kind of annoyed me

Everwood - 10/06/05
"The Next Step"
Spoiler:
Cast: Treat Williams, Gregory Smith, Emily Vancamp, Debra Mooney, John Beasley, Vivien Cardone, Chris Pratt, Stephanie Niznik, Merrilyn Gann, Tom Amandes, Scott Wolf, Sarah Drew. Director(s): Perry Lang. Producer(s): Greg Berlanti, Mickey Liddell. Writer(s): Anna Fricke . Original Airdate: October 6, 2005. Everwood ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Someone needs to punch Ephram in the throat - the character is dragging this show down horribly. They have turned him into such a brat that I don't think that they can reverse the process. I look forward to parts of this show every week - every part that he isn't in. And EVC just may be the most gorgeous woman on television right now. |
EVC really does look very pretty with her new hairdo and all.
|
And her dress at the wedding, and that white top at the diner...I lurve EVC.
|
Her and that dress were a good pair.
:D |
Ok, somebody refresh my memory...why did Ephram break up with Amy last season, besides the fact that he was just a pink panty wearing whiny girly bitch? What was so horrible about the break up that they can't even seem to make a go of it now, and Amy has to keep pining for a GAY GUY???
Good episode, though. Now let's just hope it moves back to Monday night if it's true Barely Legal is cancelled. |
If you're seriously asking, it was because she knew of Madison's pregnancy before he did and didn't tell him.
Yeah, kind of flimsy if you ask me. |
i thought shel ooked better w/ long hair, but she's still very cute now

What happened to Amy going to some east coast Ivy League school? Seems like they're just veging out. Everything about the show is boring me atm. The only interesting bits are the scenes with bright.
|
mmmmm Amy.
B&H were funny ... All I heard was Virgin Harold and the Dominos. Someone on the writing staff needs a vacation. It was neither funny nor clever. You could see it coming a mile away and was a waste of the best actor on the show. Why put us through such a horrible segment. As much as I would like to take Ephram down a peg, I think the writers are trying to show how Bright and Amy have grown and Ephram is still a kid. There will probably be some moment of epiphany down the road. Although the check on the counter was a gesture of realization that he was behaving badly. |
Rose's cancer convinced Amy that she needed to stay in Everwood to help take care of her.
|
I don't know if I mentioned this last week, but I'm enjoying the addition of Hannah to the show more each week. More often than not, I can't stand additions to an already good cast a few years into the shows run, but her addition has been a home run.
|
Anyone notice how fast Andy wrote that check. He scribbled two lines at light speed. When they showed the check at the end it was meticulously written out.
Not being picky ... just thought the way he wrote it was funny. Had they written it out slowly as most people writing a check would, we would have been sleeping. Of course he would get to the end make a mistake, VOID it out and re-write it. Five minutes later he hands it to Ephram. That is how I write a check. |
I used to like Ephram as a character, but I agree with you all. What a spoiled, whiny brat. Andy is not perfect and has definitely made mistakes as a father. But not wanting to pay for Ephram to live in an apartment while he shifts around aimlessly and "takes classes" but not works is hardly unreasonable. Most kids that want to shift around aimlessly do that while living at home. I liked when Amy told him she wanted to have a job so she wouldn't have to ask her parents for money. I hope that registered in Ephram's little entitled brain.
And $50 to have dinner with Treat Williams? I so want that job! |
From the Futon Critic:
thursday's ratings: 'everwood' rebounds >> adults 18-49 audience grows 28.57% from last week's opener Although I have a feeling it had a lot to do with the fact Reunion wasn't splitting its audience this week. Still, I imagine WB might try to hold out a bit longer before moving it back to Monday. We'll see. |

(Did a search, but it didn't find a thread for this week's episode for me, please merge if existing thread exists.)
The Nina-Andy scenes are getting cringe-worthy. They'll probably drag out Nina and Jake's potential break-up for the whole season. Of course, Andy is not the wronged man in triangle, so can't really give Andy all that much backup for his feelings for Nina. Timing can be a real bitch. I want to see Amy with other new guys, college should be a time to try out new things, new relationships, etc. Ephram is going to be Ephram, but hopefully he'll get a better appreciation of what Andy tried to provide for him, but tough love is the way to go for Ephram. Can't blame Harold for subconsciously not wanting to engage in cheesecake given Rose's condition, I hope they can work through in time. Hannah is in way over her head when it comes to Bright. Eventually he'll grow up, or she'll move away from him emotionally. |
There was a funny moment in the background, when Amy was at the campus activity fair at the start of the episode. The College Republicans table was next to the College Democrats table and a girl at the Democrat table was waving a tiny American flag and the College Republican grabbed it out of her hand.
|
I enjoyed this episode.
The last Nina/Andy scene was good. It illustrated that Nina and Andy still have feelings and could quite possibly be the downfall of Jake (hopefully). Hanna realizes that Bright isn't exactly bright. At least Harold wasn't playing with dominos or floral arrangements. Apparently Harold is not ever-wood. One of the problems I am seeing this season is that all the storylines seem disconnected from the rest of the characters. As if the characters have been divided and paired up. Remember the snow storm from the first season. Everyone gathered at the Browns. There were other episodes that brought people together. Crossing storylines to create a map of the community. |
Bright "Rabbit" Abbott
Cheesecake, Viagra, and boner-boy! rotfl Good ep. |
What's bad is that right after I watched Everwood, I watched E.R., and it also had a subplot dealing with eternal flaccidness (prostate cancer and the treatment).

Didn't ER cover this ground already? I seem to recall some guy in a similar situation propositioning Corday and having much better luck. |
I will never be able to look at cheesecake the same way again. Thanks Everwood. I liked this episode. Bright was funny. I enjoyed the cheesecake bit, I probably just won't be eating it anytime soon
|
Does anybody feel like we missed an episode between this one and last weeks?
|
I hope WB releases the other seasons on DVD. I've really been wanting to start watching Everwood, but missed out on the first three seasons. Saw Season 1 at a fantastic price of 16.99, and thought what the heck..... So I bought it, but it's going to be painful if I start watching that and can't watch seasons 2 and 3. :(
|
I'm tempted to get Everwood Season 1, but I hate that that season is in 4x3, while season 2 and 3 were in 16x9 (HDTV). Just muttering out loud...

Anybody holding out on season one, BUY IT ALREADY!!! WB has lowered the price to like 19.99 in stores and many online sites. And if it starts to sell better the faster we get season two on DVD

I thought it was great that Hannah handed Jake his ass back to him.
Having Ephram have to deal with an even bigger prima donna than himself was funny. Even if the PD can't pay him is just icing on the cake. The "creating of" and "retaining of" memories is a very human trait that was touched upon with Andy's case, as was how much our memories mean to our identities, our self-worth, our past which guides us for the future. There were a lot of good small moment all throughout this episode. A lot of re-connecting during Rose's re-election campaign came through, although she didn't get re-elected, she got a clean bill of health, and a loving family. |
Ok, it was good for the most part, but Ephram is already getting on my nerves after just a couple episodes, going back into brooding "oh, poor me" mode again. Get over yourself, Ephram. It's not cute or amusing anymore.
And the whole town meeting scene was just horrendously played, IMO. The voters WERE asking about issues important to them. Instead of letting them get the cancer issue out of the way first, Harold throws a hissy fit and just pulls his wife out of the meeting? And then they wonder why they lost???? |
I thought everyone was sleep walking through their lines this week. It could be that the script is weak. We still haven't had a big episode and hopefully we won't have to wait till the break to see one.
They are still resolving the storyline from last year ?!?!?!? |
I liked seeing Hannah stand up for herself to Jake.
I thought Ephram was actually a little less annoying that he is has been in a long time. The priest explaining the importance of Delia's Bah Mitzvah was pretty funny, imo. And Bright's reply to him: "He's Jewish and I'm a lost cause." |
i used to really enjoy this show. Now it is so boring, so humorless, I just can't take it anymore. I don't mind mopping if you have something to mopp about but please, this show is just too depressing now. bring back madison at least she was fun. amy depressing, ephram depressing, hannah depressing, ms. abbot depressing. Gilmore girls has ten times the amount of plot and 1,000 times the sense of humor that this show has. and most times gilmore girls barely has a plot. if you are going to be depressing all the time virtually then you have to have something big going on.

I don't think it's depressing. I thought this was a good episode. Mrs. Abbott loses a battle but wins a war. Ephram sees a bit of his brattiness in the mirror. They are even giving Delia a storyline. What I don't understand is that Andy can't find a rabbi within 150 miles, but his patients in the little podunk town are Holocaust survivors? They are always doing to Denver at the dop of a hat for stuff, there really is not a synagogue in Denver? I thought it was going to turn out that the patient knew a rabbi. |
