Something Ephram brought up that I hadn't thought of before. He said something about how it sucked that Andy lost his girlfriend when her boyfriend woke up from a coma, and how he's probably the only person on Earth who could relate to that. Funny stuff.

Funny you should mention her, she was on House last night. Well the actress who played her was on House. She's gone brunette now and was looking deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious.

What's the deal with Everwood?
 

I know The WB is known for having long breaks between episodes, but this show has not been on in five weeks and from what I have heard there is at least three more before the next episode. Does anyone know what is going on?

Instead of running reruns, the WB elected to just pop in a short run of Summerland in the timeslot because there are 52 Mondays in a year, but only around 22-24 episodes of Everwood per year. The math speaks loudly.

One way to look at it is that they have long breaks between episodes...another way to look at it is that they also run long uniterupted blocks of episodes.

The way I look at it is who wants to watch Summerland? I use the breaks to catch up with other stuff. Sometimes I apprecite the "vacation" from not havinv to turn on the TV to watch my favorite shows!

so you've got one. it equals 6-7 weeks, and then you have 12 weeks or so again. simple. :)

Even though the breaks can be a PITA, the Everwood break is working out great for mine self. There is so much stuff to watch and do that I'm not even missing it just yet. And thank good they don't do the "run two eps, rerun, new ep, rerun," type schedule that really gets under my goose. I'll take these mini hiatus' over that anyday.

I would rather networks just go to a more compact schedule instead of doing long breaks. I would prefer a layout like FX does rather than guess work on when a show is going to be on. Hell, I can't believe I am saying this, but do what Fox and ABC have done with Alias and 24. Split the season up into 22 week seasons, run episodes with no interruption. Break for the holidays and return with a different show.

Networks don't quite have the budget for such outlay for new programming to run 2 shows per year in the same time slot (one show occupies the beginning of the year, the other occupies the second half of the year).

No one realizes how much shows like The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, etc are in re-runs all the time on the FX.

All of season 4's episodes of 24 have been shown in a row because it's a highly, highly serialized show that is the exception of most episodic TV. Alias is also an exception because of scheduling, plus their good forture to have scored a hit with Desperate Housewives in Alias' former timeslot.

blah - Ephram not going through w/ his audition was too predictable.

Can't believe Madison didn't out Andy - Sarah Lancaster was really good in that scene.

Bright is getting an apartment and I think he needs a roommate.

Any bets Ephram will be Bright's new roommate?

I hope next week's ads are deceptive and Ephram doesn't screw up his relationship with Amy.

Gah, the final scene got to me.

Sarah Lancaster did some really good work in her scene with Gregory Smith.

Fathers and sons: for now, the Chris Penn character has lost his son permanently, Andy has lost his son for the time being, and Harold does his best to re-connect with Bright (but Harold should never be allowed to say "Boo-yeah" ever again).

Anyone want to give me a quick rundown of what happened? I forgot this was even still around in the time it was off.

OK I forgot this was coming back this week, can anyone recap? Exactly what did Madison tell Ephram? Did she keep the baby, or give it up, or abortion, or what?

this show has reached the breaking point for me. sarah lancaster was very good in her scenes but the pacing and editing of this episode was awful. Doctor brown after building a practice area and sending away madison lets sarah lancaster tell ephram just before his audition that madison had a baby. even amy the idiot she is had the sense to wait until after his audition. stupid, stupid plot device. This show has nothing to say anymore. give sarah lancaster her own show on the wb and i will be watching.

OK, I saw ALL that stuff coming (not to mention things shaping up for next season - Ephram/Bright roomates, attending same college etc) but I still really enjoyed it. I actually enjoy the show more when it isn't so angsty (which has been about 7 episodes in the shows entire run) and it looks like the happy times are going away again. Really good acting in this ep. Everyone had good scenes.

I wonder what they're going to do with Amy's character if Ephram stays in Everwood. All the colleges she applied to where in or near NY right?

Ephram really bugged me in this episode. Does he really WANT a baby? He's 17 years old! Sheesh. I don't get it. Most teenaged boys would be glad they they didn't have to raise and support a baby. I can understand him being upset for not having known about it, but I really don't get the sudden Ephram as Superdad thing.

And not going through with his audition was so stupid it's not even funny. You want to get away from your dad? There was your chance.

I hate it when smart characters do stupid things.

The whole episode seemed devised for writers to create maximum drama without really being realistic about people would react to things.

I can't understand how you all continue to complain about this show. You say "oh, that was so predictable" - maybe in part, but there are really only so many situations they can come up with and routes they can take. Did I think he would not make his audition? Sure; I was 50/50, but I had not idea how. Perhaps I missed something, but I thought his audition was later that day after he met with Madison. I figured if he was going to miss it, that he would sit there in shock at the cafe until 7pm or something and then realized what had happened.
You complain that she didn't wait until after the audition (warrented), but then you give her props for not selling out Andy? Come on.
I don't think he ever said he wanted to be a dad. I'd be pissed as hell if some chick I dated came up to me 1 year later and said "You got me pregnant, I had the kid, gave it away; oh, and sorry you didn't have anything to do with it."

It just really bugs me when I enjoy an episode to no end, and come here to see more negative comments about one of the better TV shows out there than positive remarks. Don't get me wrong, I do welcome everybody's opinions though and am glad to read them. It's just that this is nowhere near as "compalint worthy" as say 24 and it's ...well let's not go there. You can see this weeks thread if you really want to.
On a more positive note,
I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. Again you say Eprham is annoying, but I figured this for another situation where he would dump Amy and we'd be back to square one with the two of them. Please he asked for help.

Ephram's plight is that strange dichotomy that some men feel when it comes to their offspring that is disposed of with no input from them, but had Madison decided to keep the child, Ephram would have been on the hook for child support, nonetheless. Ephram just felt helpless in this situation because he had no say in the situation due to both Madison and Andy's actions. Ephram reacted by being in shell-shock, and went for the short-term get-back-at-Andy play by not showing up for his audition.

Now, what really pissed me off was Andy thinking that Ephram would even be up to playing for his audition after Madison dropped the bombshell on him. That was insane to expect Ephram to just collect himself and show up for the audition and play his ass off. Andy was nowhere in the moment for his son, all Andy cared about was not pissing away the long-term goal of getting into Julliard and becoming this great pianist, and could not deal with the pain and hurt and confusion that Ephram was reeling from from Madison's revelations.

Am I the only one who does not see Bright/Ephram roommate angle, rather the Amy/Ephram and Princeton fate angle? Ephram applies to Princeton for Amy so that she can pursue her dream. Eprham's dream is tainted and ruined because of his Dad & Madison so he is left with nothing but asking Amy for help and her dream is what helps him find his way.

I just don't see much there with Bright and Ephram because after all that has gone down I don't see Ephram wanting to stay in Everwood and Bright isn't going to leave.

While it was pretty obvious Ephram was going to walk out on the audition I can't say that I blame him. Yes, it was his way away from his Dad, but would any of you pursue your hobby/dream when all it did was remind you of one of the most painful moments of your life? I can see Ephram's point about having the music ruined for him.

I had forgotten how much I enjoy this show, and as contrived as the episode was, it was gut-wrenching to see all the work that Ephram and Andy had done to rebuild their relationship be destroyed so quickly. I think that this is easily my favorite show on TV and I think that Treat Williams and Tom Amandes both deserve an Emmy.

And keep Sarah Lancaster on the show!!!

Sometimes, you just want to slap Ephram until he "gets" it, but headstrong and locked on a target with little upside will cost him even more than he'll ever realize (a second shot at Julliard, and Amy).

Delia tore Andy a new one. Nice.

Hannah and Bright are already turning into an old married couple in spots. She takes a risk, and is rewarded. As one relationship burns to the ground, another one might catch fire.

Andy still isn't all that happy about Jake and Nina, but is playing the nice guy for now.

As Jadzia pointed out last week - Ephram is the stupidest genius ever. At this point, I was almost hoping he would get hit by a trolley last night.

Again - Bright and Hannah were pretty damn amusing. He has been stealing the show for two seasons now. Amy and Harold's moments were good, too.

First time I have ever liked Delia.

Does anyone every wish they would cut half of the cast and just name the show The Abbotts? I do.

Just name it "The Amy".

People on this show talk really really fast. I had to rewind it when Amy let it slip that she knew about Madison.

I thought Hannah took the "Turbo-Tongue Award" last night. It was almost as if she was trying out for a guest appearance on Gilmore Girls when she was talking to Bright.

Much better than last week.

The first half was a little slow, but the second half made up for it. The Abbots are definitely the highlight. The browns are way to self-absorbed and Ephram is behaving like a spoiled rich kid who gets everything he wants. Kind of difficult to watch people like that. The writers have been getting a bit dystopic lately.

I liked last nights episode... but I wonder if and when Delia is going to find out.

The sad thing is, if she does find and tells her gossipy friend, then the cat is out of the bag and everyone in EW is going to know about it.

That scene w/ Dr. Brown and Delia was amazing.

They are trying their damnedest, and it's working, to turn Ephram into one of the biggest tools on television.

EVC was great in that scene w/ Gregory Smith.

And I knew something bad was going to happen to Mama Abbott. :(

Well, there you have it, Amy finally piecing it all together, finally figuring out that she and Ephram wanted different things and for now, their paths will diverge. The realization on Amy's face during the last scene was heartbreaking.

Jake has to weather his brother stirring the pot to finally make his stand with Nina. Andy is in no man's land, a day late and a dollar short after finding out from Jake that Nina loved him, but Andy was never available, and now the timing is off, and Jake intends on making it work with Nina.

Harold's world goes from a world of possibilities to one of finite and difficult outcomes as he is elated by the thought of bringing another child into the world, but finds out that a tumor in Rose's back threatens to cut short her life, something he's not prepared for.

Ephram has officially made more heel/face turns in the last three seasons than the "Honky Tonk Man" did in his whole career.
