Hate, really? I haven't ventured outside of this little bubble, but I don't see what there was to complain about. I was smiling like the Cheshire Cat from the plane shot on. I can't wait for the 4th season opener when we see Hanso sitting at his computer moving all the players around.

The main complaints, abundant ads aside, were "nothing happend" (which is bullshit) along with "no action" (...).

pinata242 10-05-06 02:32 PM

"Nothing" should have happened anyway. "Everything" happened in the finale. They were setting us up for the season, or at least this 6-episode "mini-series". Ingrates...

dave-o 10-05-06 02:32 PM

Is it possible that the screen cap of the island is actually two islands. With the others on one and the plane crash on the other? Seems like it could be...

agreed. I went to the Television Without Pity board last night after the show, and there was TONS of hate. Sometimes that board is hard to wade through as it is, but 4 out of every 5 people were bashing it.

I thought it was a great episode, so I don't know why there is all the hate. Lost seems to be entering the 'it's cool now to bash Lost instead of sit down and enjoy it' phase

Patman 10-05-06 02:36 PM

The reason Lost got its viewership is because it's the season premiere episode. If the viewers are getting fed up with the lack of answers and plot progression, then the viewership numbers will wane in the coming weeks.

I am not surprised "The Nine" did poorly, as "Lost" doesn't seem to impart much lead-in muscle for the previous 2 shows in the 10-spot EDT (Invasion, Eyes, also was Karen Sisco after Lost 3 seasons ago?)

12 million viewers is a far cry from "poorly", Pat.

Now let's see some comparison CDs from this TH album to see if this is, in fact, what they showed.

cdollaz 10-05-06 02:45 PM

Also interesting is that the Dualdisc version of Speaking In Tongues doesn't come packaged like it is shown on last night's episode. It is available in a cardboard Digipak or a white cd case, but not the traditional black case as shown on last night's episode.

The thing is, the show has always been like that. Every episode has answers, but they're presented in a way that chains them along as part of bigger questions, and the plot generally progresses a good deal (save for a few) and at a good clip. I dunno, I guess people like the show for different reasons *shrug*.

I personally enjoy the approach that you find stuff out as the characters do, and seeing as how this was the natural progression for those characters, it just sort of made sense.

Oh, and apparently not showing what happend to Locke and Eko makes the creators "incompotent". Who knew.

TWoP seems to hate everything. I guess that's how the site got its name. The reaction at TWoP on shows I follow is usually quite different than this site. I thought this was a very good episode and sets up lots of new and interesting possibilities for the rest of the season. Everybody at work that I talked to felt the same way.

Doesn't this lend creedence to the fact the CD might not actually be SIT?

BlackCapTen 10-05-06 03:03 PM

Anyone remember the children that were taken from the tail section group? I remember one of them was dragging a doll as they walked through the island (I think it was last season). Are we to assume they are likely part of the "Others" now (as Walt was during the testing)?

I don't think so. Because Juliette nods her head to the "Downtown" beat very distinctly. Unless the Talking Heads song had the exact same beat, they would have had to reshoot Juliette's scene - which then, you would expect, that they would replace the CD package.

I'm chalking it up to a mistake.

Now everyone whines about commercials. Geez guys, Abc's gotta pay the bills.

I hereby christen this board a non-whining site. NO WHINERS!

The cd booklet is without a doubt from Speaking In Tongues. As for the cd, there aren't too many Dualdiscs out there and I'm pretty sure Petula Clark hasn't had any material released via Dualdisc. I would have to check my copy of the SIT Dualdisc to see if the colors match up. It could be any Dualdisc since we can't read the writing on it, but I know it is not Petula Clark and logic tells me that it is very likely Talking Heads.

whotony 10-05-06 03:14 PM

the disc itself has no label on it indicating what exact cd it was.

maybe she just ahd a different cd in the case then what was supposed to be in there

Possibly, but regardless of what the cd actually was, it definitely was not a Petula Clark cd.

Damfino 10-05-06 03:23 PM

The Talking Heads need to reunite and perform "Downtown" with Petula Clark. Then they need to reissue Speaking In Tongues on dual-disc with "Downtown" as a bonus track. That should fix everything.

Did anyone see photo #33 at the ABC site for this Lost episode? There in the same room as Jack when he's lying on the table/rack. Anyone know who she is or what the significance is?

Supposedly there was a subplot deleted from Jack's flashback where he performed CPR on a girl in a playground (the same one where he was stalking Sarah). Juliet mentioned something about the drug they gave him would make him hallucinate...i'm guessing he imagined that girl and that's what that pic is from.

RichC2 10-05-06 03:32 PM

By the way, was it ever disclosed how long the 3 of them were 'out' for? I know the episode started with them all waking up and removing a bandage. Or is it all fodder for future flashback?

It means that? Did I forget something from last season or are you just guessing?
