Balance of Terror - 09/16/06
I think they did a good job with the new effects but it wasn't quite what I expected going in. I thought the space scenes would stick out like a sore thumb but they really didn't, it stayed very true to the original look of the show. I've only seen this episode a couple of times so I'm not sure but I don't think there were any changes to the footage inside the ship, except for the view-screen of course. My only gripe is that they're airing these shows with cuts for syndication.

There's a ongoing discussion on this topic in the HD Talk forum that's on page 6 already: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=475938&page=6
The show was not in HD. I still don't understand why it's in that forum.

The remastering is being done in HD for the future. The only reason we're not seeing it is none of the syndicate stations have the capability to show the programs right now.

I'm only seeing subtle differences with the newer effects (which is a good thing IMO). Image looks great! You can really see the make-up caked on the actors now.

I set my TiVo to record this, but my NBC affiliate must have changed the time, because it only recorded the last 10 minutes. I really only wanted to see the opening credits, anyway. Is it really true that they added the lyrics?

According to STARTREK.com, both "Balance of Terror" and "Miri" were broadcast this weekend, and the latter isn't slated to be rerun until late June 2007, but I found no listing for it locally, just "BoT". Anyone else get "Miri"?

Watched 15 minutes of Miri, set DVR and went to sleep early. Will watch rest tonite.
I noticed that they cut the scene of Kirk beating up the deformed Grup in the beginning down to one punch. I think in the original he hits him like 4 times! (Was a tad excessive but hey, that's how it was...)
Question, how much of the Kirk Finnegan fight scenes will get cut from "Shore Leave" or any big rambling fistfight scene...?
