Simpsons episode question.....

Hi. I saw a recent episode the other day where all of a sudden, the animation completely changed for about 2 minutes and went into this 2-D basic style (a reference to some earlier cartoon, I assume). All the action of the characters was choppy and moved, I believe, from left to right. The characters didn't stop moving....if I'm not mistaken. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks for reading.

That could be a few episodes. I know they do a Looney Tunes reference in a Halloween episode, and there's an episode where the kids visit the Itchy and Scratchy studios and continually pass the same background like in old cheap cartoons.

Was it Worker and Parasite? Eastern Europe's answer to Itchy and Scratchy?

I don't think so. It was from a recent one since I'd never seen it before. I've watched so many simpsons episodes lately that it's hard to remember the plot from this one.

I remember there is an episode where the family becomes obsessed with tennis, and Marge and Bart join a tennis tournament together. When they pull out of the driveway in their car and drive away I remember that the animation looked completely "off". Just didn't look right.

It's not that one. I've seen the tennis one a few times, but not in a long while. I'll post my question on a simpsons message board and see if anyone there knows. I'll post which episode it is if I find out. Thanks.

Was it the episode (called "Catch 'Em If You Can") where Marge and Homer go on a vacation, and Bart and Lisa follow them across the country? There's a stylized animated section that's a reference to the movie "Catch Me If You Can" that sounds like your description.

That was one of the show's greatest moments in my opinion.
