TV shows on iTunes now at 640 x 480 (H.264 & Dolby Surround)
Apple also debuted its movie store with 75 from Walt Disney, Pixar, Touchstone, Miramax--all of which are owned by Disney. Most titles will be available for $9.99, while new releases--available same as the DVD-- will be $12.99 for preorders and first week and then $14.99 after that. Along with all TV shows it will be available in 640x480 using H.264 codec and Dolby Surround--about four times the previous resolution. Movies, with the same usage rights as TV shows, will take about 30 minutes to download using a 5Mb/sec broadband connection and also feature parental controls using MPAA ratings. The US version of the iTunes Movie Store is available now, while the international version is expected in 2007.
