Another Brit show to be imported and Americanized - Footballer$ Wives

To say Footballer$ Wives is over-the-top is an understatement. This will be curious to see how it turns out since censorship isn't an issue in Britain. If they can come up with something decent, it would make for a great companion to Desperate Housewives on Sunday nights.

Touchstone Television and comedy scribe Marco Pennette (Ugly Betty) are teaming to adapt Footballers Wive$, a bawdy U.K. sudser that makes Desperate Housewives look like I Love Lucy, into an hour-long ABC serial. Per Variety, the series would retain all of its original over-the-top zing and still focus on women whose lives are transformed by their high-profile marriages to pro athletes, but the setting would shift from the world of soccer to American football. If only because scoreless ties simply are not sexy.
