Rescue Me *Season Finale* - "Beached" - 8/29/06

"Beached"
Spoiler:
Tommy promises to help Janet with her new baby but neglects to tell her about his plans with Sheila; Franco visits his daughter; Several crew members prepare to leave the firehouse.

Bandoman 08-29-06 02:14 PM

I can't for the episode, but I'm sad to see the season end.

dadaluholla 08-29-06 02:22 PM

Personally, I am glad this season is over. Maybe they can take the next few months to try to add some life back into the series before coming back. Otherwise, I don't see much point in even bothering with a season four.

Tom Banjo 08-29-06 10:03 PM

Spoiler:
I hope Sheila dies in that fire.

lotsofdvds 08-29-06 10:03 PM

Saw that ending coming...

Glad to see I wasn't the only one thinking that:lol:

I thought it was a pretty mediocre finale.

Deftones 08-29-06 11:54 PM

Finale wasn't anything spectacular, but this season was great.

I was shocked that Artie Lange's part that he filmed not more than a month ago was in this episode.

I did really like that one scene where they were all at the firefighter memorial. I wish it would have ended there. Sheila's character sucks the life out of every scene she is in. I hope they get rid of the crazy bitch.

slop101 08-30-06 12:36 AM

That was the lamest start to a fire I've ever seen - she just threw a lamp and it immediately burst into huge unsmotherable flames? Please... I expect a lot better from a show about firemen.

wastro 08-30-06 01:35 AM

I woulda been more into the finale if
Spoiler:
there was any chance in hell that Tommy's going to die. I'll be bummed if he gets out with only minor injuries and that's all there is to the fire.

spainlinx0 08-30-06 03:16 AM

The scene at the memorial seemed forced to me. They are all giving these long monologues, and I just didn't buy it for a second.

I know this show stretches reality, and that fire did start ridiculously quickly, but I found it even harder to believe that a fireman's wife would have absolutely no idea how to operate a fire extinguisher.

Legolas 08-30-06 03:57 AM

Wasn't the nun AT Johnny's funeral?

Patman 08-30-06 07:48 AM

Lou on the way to the boat scene ran for too long, but was funny nonetheless.

I hope Sheila does burn in the house, she is so messed up inside.

Red Dog 08-30-06 07:49 AM

I think the finale kind of fell flat. Another great season though (after a slow start).

Loved that beach house. What a shame.

Chew 08-30-06 07:54 AM

I agree, kind of a m'eh finale. They sure did wrap up a lot of stories though.

I certainly hope that's the last we see of that Probie story. That wore out it's welcome a long time ago and I really didn't need to see how they resolved it.

In Sheila's defense, she was totally wasted, which I've heard can impare judgment and motor skills. For some reason I sort of like her craziness, but clearly it was going to end storybook-like for her and Tommy.

Edit: From USAToday (really, today), Alcohol and Fire a Deadly Mix

For some reason I just lost it when that dude's hairly leg came up into Probie's face. "Guys...Guys...I don't think I'm bi anymore," and that look of pure disgust on his face.

Great season overall, but agree not the best finale ever.

Red Dog 08-30-06 09:06 AM

I did love how Tommy wouldn't let the kids watch Big Love.

BamaDan 08-30-06 09:35 AM

Nutty Sheila can't die or else Tommy will be seeing her all the time in his mind too. Is the survivor's guilt thing over now, because they seemed to drop that. Uncle Teddy? Dropped. Just so many loose ends this season with some lazy, lazy writing. I'm all for Sheila being scarred or crippled in the fire, but Janet's almost as nutty and twice as bitchy.

Gojhawks 08-30-06 09:42 AM

I thought it was a very good episode. As usual some great one-liners. "They are teaching sperm in school now?" I thought the Franco story was little disjointed.
I loved Lou freaking out on the dock. He played the physical comedy well. I for one didn't see the ending coming and thought it was well done. I thought Sheila freaking out the way she did fit her character perfectly. Overall I was very pleased with this season and am going to miss it until it starts again.

bunkaroo 08-30-06 09:54 AM

OK I feel stupid for having to ask this since I've been watching the show from day one.

Lou is a nickname for "Lieutenant", correct? Lately I've been a bit confused since sometimes they call him Kenny.

Jadzia 08-30-06 10:02 AM

I loved it when Sheila asked Tommy if he wanted to watch Meerkat Manor.

I love that show!

I think she did. I thought I saw the blue pill on the table when she was mixing his drink. I think she started the place on fire before she could take advantage of the viagra again.

vegasbaby 08-30-06 10:50 AM

looked like she only crushed one pill, the sleeping one ...
