NBC to Air "The Real Wedding Crashers"

Last year's hit film "Wedding Crashers" will become a reality series as NBC announced its new show, "The Real Wedding Crashers," inspired by the movie. Ashton Kutcher will serve as one of the show's executive producers.

The show will feature hidden cameras that will record improvisational actors who go undercover at real weddings to bring an added element of surprise to the traditional proceedings.

"Everyone loved 'Wedding Crashers' and we wanted to see if we could capture that same kind of inspired frivolity in a real-life series," Craig Plestis, Senior Vice President of Alternative Programs and Development at NBC, said. "Working with Ashton and knowing his memorable experiences with the jokes he pulled off on 'Punk'd' made it that much more enticing. This series has a big upside potential for hidden-camera humor."

Six episodes have been ordered, with no premiere date set.

Is nothing sacred anymore?

I think I will watch this, but if it were my wedding, I would go 'Rambo' on anybody that tried this.

true he had a good idea with punk'd but this just doesn't isn't original at all! they need to come up with NEW ideas for shows as opposed to basing them off of something that was already a success.

Will they be paying all of the brides and grooms for the rights to do this, or only the ones that sue them?

There is no way the couples won't be in on this. I can't imagine they are just going to crash normal weddings.

I don't think this will be as bad as Real Housewives from Orange County. I'm still expecting "The Real Pirates of the Caribbean", "The Real 40-year-old Virgin" and "The Real Snakes on the Plane" to be the next reality series.

My guess is that the bride and groom will not be in on it but will be receiving a nice wedding gift from the show for their trouble. I also would guess that the crashers would not do anything to outrageous so as to not actually ruin that day for some couple.

I would think it would be the other way around where only the bride and groom would know and be in on it

NBC PREMIERES ULTIMATE HIDDEN CAMERA SHOW "THE REAL WEDDING CRASHERS" FROM "PUNK'D" PRODUCERS ASHTON KUTCHER AND JASON GOLDBERG AND NEW LINE CINEMA -- THE STUDIO BEHIND THE SMASH COMEDY "WEDDING CRASHERS"

BURBANK -- April 2, 2007 -- NBC's hilarious new hidden camera comedy series "The Real Wedding Crashers," inspired by the smash-hit New Line feature film "Wedding Crashers" and produced by New Line Television, and Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg's Katalyst ("Punk'd"), is set to premiere Monday, April 23 (10-11 p.m. ET) following the return of "Heroes" (9-10 p.m. ET).

In the six outrageous, one-hour episodes, wedding couples team up with five "crashers" to create the most memorable wedding weekend their guests will never forget! The crash team consists of five quick-thinking, hilarious improv performers who've made it their mission to infiltrate a wedding, going undercover as wedding staff and guests to save them from run-of-the-mill boredom. The bride and groom are in on the fun as they assist the "crashers" to take on outrageous characters and personalities to pull off some fun and outlandish pranks.

The "crashers" will make it their mission to ease the bride and groom's concerns and guarantee that it will be the happiest night of their lives. Each of the "crashers" will do more than just liven up the party, some pranks will be light-hearted and funny, while others will be emotional and bring the families together. At the end of each show, viewers will be treated to a huge reveal when the "crashers" admit to their pranks.

Steve Byrne ("Comedy Central Presents"), Ben Gleib ("The Gleib Show"), Desi Lydic ("Pepper Dennis"), Catherine Reitman ("My Super Ex-Girlfriend"), and Gareth Reynolds ("The Room") star as the "crashers."

"The Real Wedding Crashers" is a production of Katalyst Films and Television and New Line Television. Ashton Kutcher ("Punk'd," "Beauty and the Geek"), Jason Goldberg ("Punk'd", "Beauty and the Geek"), Karey Burke ("Miss Guided"), Rich Meehan ("Big Brother"), Jon Kroll ("The Amazing Race," "Amish in the City") and Jim Rosenthal ("Blade: The Series") serve as executive producers.

The point is that they couldn't do it without the permission of the couple who are paying for the wedding.

Weddings can cost possibly tens of thousands of dollars, and if they happen to ruin the wedding of a couple that doesn't like it, there'd be lawsuits, etc...and the couple would most certainly win.

"Everyone loved 'Wedding Crashers'
who's everyone?, i hated that movie.

Oh my god! TV is going more and more down the crapper every year.
im with you in the minority here, when was the exact point when reality garbage took over primetime tv? i remember a time when well acted dramas/comedies/other got the highest ratings.
now just wait for the shit to start flying! about this post.

at least there are still quite a few good shows on tv, to bad only 10 of them do good in the ratings.
