Anyone notice the doctor's car had Onstar? It was a jeep right? I avoid both GM and Chrysler brands at all costs, but I didn't think that Chrysler had Onstar, I thought they had a different branded system.

I don't remember the first season perfectly well, but I can't really think of all that many deaths that could be directly contributed to Michael's plan.. I definitely can't think of enough to call it a "trail".

First off, I don't think you could attribute any of the deaths related to the conspiracy to Michael, as Veronica would have been investigating things anyway. The only one who could be considered would be Nick's (that was the lawyer Veronica was working with, right?) death, seeing as he was supposed to kidnap Veronica for Abruzzi to use as leverage at the airfield. However, IIRC he was already involved with Abruzzi's gang before we first saw him, so I don't think you could pin that one on Michael.

That really knocks out a lot of the deaths from the first season, such as LJ's parents, Kellerman's partner, the Company operative, the president, etc.

As far as the in-prison deaths go, the only "innocent victim" I can think of that was a direct result of the plan was the guard that T-Bag killed in the riot that Michael caused.

Of course, I could be forgetting some of the details...

I guess even though he has only been chasing after them for a day, he already knows that they are really good guys despite being escaped convicts.
Actually, he seems to be focusing exclusively on Michael, so he already knows that the only reason that Michael held up the bank was to get sent to prison, and most likely isn't going to be as likely to shoot him as Lincoln would be (from his POV). Also, there's the consideration that Michael wouldn't have had as clean of a shot if he was holding on to LJ. Then there's the consideration that if they did fire a shot, it would likely have been heard and drawn attention to them.

I actually like Tweener alot better now than last season...having a diversionary character with no ulterior motives but to get away and get some cash is cool.

BTW...if the supercop was almost on Mike and Link's trail, and solid news of Haywires location was revealed, would'nt he HAVE to treat them the same and chase the other guy.

And how soon before Mike and Link get out of a tough jam this way?

Original Desmond 08-29-06 03:05 PM

FBI don't have to do anything, he could send other agents onto haywire

Easy call for OnStar. From Chicago, get on I-80 west and go straight until you see the Welcome to Utah sign. That's it.

Jadzia 08-29-06 03:16 PM

I thought it was funny how Tweener asked for a bus ticket to "Utah", as if it wasn't a huge state or anything.

Good call. I think Acura is the only brand other than GM.

I could swear the vet's eyes were twitching during that closeup - it was either that or my shitty cable.

They're pretty much all going to "Utah" with no other information. Yet, somehow I'm sure they'll all manage to get to the location with the money stash all at the exact same time.

Yeah, but wouldnt the head FBI agent actually have someone to answer to? How bad would it be for your carear if the only guy they caught was caught without your input?

rkndkn 08-29-06 08:29 PM

Wasn't LJ pretending to be talking to Nick? And Mahone told him that's funny because Nick's body was found earlier that morning? Wasn't Nick killed ages ago? Even if they only found the body now, wouldn't LJ have heard from Veronica?

I was disappointed, too. I figured the show can afford to kill off at least one person an ep.

How about just use iTunes? It's already there for $1.99. iTunes is my backup whenever the DVR lets me down (power outage, etc.)

The timeline can be a bit confusing due to the summer break, but at the moment, they're less than 24 hours over the wall. Also, IIRC Nick was killed in the first season Finale, which took place the night that they broke out. This means that Nick hasn't even been dead for a day.

Even if they only found the body now, wouldn't LJ have heard from Veronica?
Uh, after she got kidnapped by Nick near the end of the first season, she then was released and went straight to Montana, where she then got locked in the house with Steadman, and then went on to getting killed and dismembered, so I don't think it's that much of a stretch that LJ wouldn't have heard from her.

Damn, the DOC bureaucracy sure moves fast. Less than a day after the prison break they gather witnesses, have a full hearing and reach their conclusion. I guess prison guards don't have the same union reps that the police get.

And why didn't Scofield pack a couple of ZZ Top beards and afro wigs for him and Link. At first I thought it was a bit unlikely that the chick recognized him, but then I realized HE IS AN ESCAPED INMATE WHO MURDERED THE VICE PRESIDENT'S BROTHER AND WAS SCHEDULED TO BE EXECUTED THE NIGHT BEFORE. Dude, either get in the store or stay the fuck in the car, anything but slink suspiciously outside. Something tells me your mug has been in the paper a few times before that morning's edition.

Also, if they plan on having the Utah gathering for the season finale then they are going to have to switch to a near "24"-like timeline. It shouldn't take much more than a day for one of the 4 or 5 different groups/individuals to make it there.

Who knows... maybe they wanted to put it on a fast track to make an example out of somebody before they got too much bad press. I'm thinking that the guard they had as a witness was already talking before the escape even happened. He got framed, right? Was he the one that got fired after the incident with Michael's burned shoulder?

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Only thing I can figure is that Lincoln was there to act as a lookout, watching the car or whatnot while Michael got everything he needed for his plan.

Isn't the show only supposed to be two seasons? Thought I read that somewhere. If that's the case, then I imagine that any season finale would revolve around the final fates of whoever's left, be it crossing a border, dying, etc. Utah would have to come a bit before that. Either way, they're two episodes in and still less than a day has passed, so I could see them covering only a few days over the course of the season.

An okay episode at best but my question is what was the FBI guy doing in the garden looking at a birdfeeder fountain (at least that's what I think it was) at the beginning of the episode? Is this the place where his drawing his "knowledge" of Michael's plans from?

tbird2340 08-30-06 08:26 AM

That's my biggest complaint about this week's ep.. Lincoln.. Out in the open with NO FREAKING DISGUISE!! Llike many have said.. You murdered the Vice Prez's bro, you are VERY well known, and you JUST ESCAPED!! Put a freaking hat on at the very least numb nuts!

B.A.

This show is so laughably bad.

I would argue that it's the worst show on television. I usually get irritated when people hope for shows to get canceled, but every Monday I say a little prayer that this one will end soon. I just don't have the will power to stop watching it, and yet it is so unbelievably awful. At least 24 has Jack Bauer.

As to the silly disguise issue, am I the only one who thinks a man dressed in a nice suit, slinking under a cheap ballcap is like saying, "Look at me! I'm hiding from the police!!"

It's fun to watch the battle of wits between Scofield and Goren, though. Goren was brilliant enough to not only figure out the tattoo thing but to know precisely which tattoo was relevant and precisely the right time to track his prey. Scofield, on the other hand, used his powers of deduction to know precisely where L.J. would be in the building when they wanted to break him out. I fully expect this season to end with the two of them in a large room, battling one other with their telekinetic powers, while the fabric of space-time warps around them in the background.
