"The Release"
Spoiler:
Things are looking up when the guys get news that Queens Boulevard is getting a wide release. Ari must make a deal with an old adversary to survive threats from the "Five Families," and Drama is tense about an important audition, taking his aggression out on anyone and everyone.

Nosebleed 07-30-06 07:24 PM

:whofart:

Is that a Madame Tussaud version of Kevin Dillon or has he had a lot of work done?

RUSF18 07-30-06 09:27 PM

So, uh...guess everything isn't going so "perfect" for these guys now, huh?

Fuckin love Drama's "Victory!" screams. :)

flashburn 07-30-06 09:46 PM

"Fuck commerce!"

Oh how I wish this show was longer!

aktick 07-30-06 09:50 PM

I love Billy.

DVDHO 07-30-06 10:11 PM

Man this show just keeps getting better, enjoying it more then Soprano's season 6 so far.

slop101 07-31-06 12:10 AM

Why wasn't Queen's Blvd. releaswed yet?

It was completed at Sundance - this was way before they even started shooting for Aquaman.

So now almost two years later, it's still not out? Makes no sense.

Pistol Pete 07-31-06 08:38 AM

Uh, because
Spoiler:
the studio wanted to tweak it
for a wide release? Happens all the time...

We need a petition for an hour long Entourage. It seems like it's only on for five minutes before the credits roll. I guess that's just proof of how good the show is but i could easily watch an hour of it every week.

Geofferson 07-31-06 09:04 AM

"Miller Gold" -- it does sound like a beer.

Not only that, but I imagine they were holding out to capitalize off of the Aquaman publicity.

slop101 07-31-06 11:17 AM

Has there ever been a movie (a good one, not a bad one) that sat on the shelf for 2 years waiting for "publicity"? I call shenanigans.

I also think Ari would be smarter - he really should know better and not have done anything until he had Malcom McDowell's money in his hands.

If the studio in question is mirrored after Miramax, it wouldn't be surprising at all.

QB wasn't suppose to have a wide release. The studio wasn't interested in releasing it in theaters. The director didn't want it to. That's why he was so pissed that they were releasing it. It was an Indie film. But since Aquaman was so successful the studio decided to cash in on Vince's popularity and release QB.

JCWBobC 07-31-06 12:40 PM

It's not that the director didn't want it released, it's that he didn't want them to colorize it like they did. They were happy it was getting released but they wanted it to be black & white, the way the shot it & the way it was meant to be seen.

I loved drama and the anger management. I also love how they get little cameo's ed burns was fun in this, and drama saying he was waiting for an hour outside his office.

I just said a couple of weeks ago that I was hoping that they bring Walsh back soon...and whaddya know, guess who shows up. Best of the season, bar none.

Walsh was back.

Ari and Lloyd were going at it.

Ari was fighting for his life.

And Drama lost his cool more than once.

Not that it really matters, but he does have signed settlement papers. Even if Terrance does try to delay some, it will be a short delay. He signed the papers. He has no legal standing to fight something to which he agreed.

MrX 07-31-06 03:53 PM

"FUCK the phones Lloyd! Unless Carmen Electra calls for an emergency titty fuck, don't answer"rotfl

Vince is a PR disaster.

That's what I also didn't understand. Ari has the signed settlement papers.

Unless Terrance fudged the amount on the papers, but then I would think that Ari's "legal beagle" would of caught that.

He knows he might not win in the long run, but he'll tie it up in court as long as he can (even if it costs him lots more than 11 million to do it) just to fuck with Ari. Basically he's going to keep the money out of Ari's hands as long as he can.

The Sundance cut of QB was 4 hours long and even Billy admitted it was nowhere near close to the final cut...add his cut, then the studios cut, then testing

Yes, but he will not be able to tie it up long. If Ari has a decent business plan and the settlement to come, a business loan or investors wouldn't be much of a problem.

Not that it matters, because the writers used the "problem" to create a more interesting scenario.
