Teams for Amazing Race 10 revealed...

I have not seen pictures of the teams posted yet anywhere (not even the CBS website).

I have yet to miss a season of this show although last year I had to use the DVR to record all of the season and wasn't able to watch it live.

Diverse Cast Embarks on 'Amazing Race'
Show's 10th edition includes Muslim team, amputee
July 15 2006

PASADENA, Calif. -- The 10th edition of "The Amazing Race" will kick off with one of the most diverse groups of teams the show has ever had.

The Emmy-winning series, which moves to Sundays in the fall, will feature 12 teams this time, up from the usual complement of 11. Racers include the show's first-ever Muslim team -- a pair of Browns-loving best friends from Cleveland -- along with an Indian-American couple, an amputee (Sarah Reinertsen) who competes in triathlons and a father and his lesbian daughter.

And, yes, there are a couple of models, as well as a pair of Miss USA contestants.

"The range in this cast is remarkable," host Phil Keoghan told reporters Saturday at the Television Critics Association press tour. "We've never had such a broad spectrum of people."

The 12 teams will be put to the test right away, executive producers Bertram Van Munster and Jonathan Littman say. Instead of "easing in" to the competition by sending the teams
Spoiler:
to Europe or South America first, the teams will first head to China after starting in Seattle.

No Black Family? :(

Patman 07-15-06 09:46 PM

No white family with the surname "White" either? Where's the justice in this life?

Silly Burrito 07-15-06 09:56 PM

It's also moving to Sundays at 8:

Good, it was on a horribly busy night of television before.

With NBC having Sunday Night Football, it means that for the first time I will not be able to watch TAR as it airs.

The oldest person is 52. That's good.

It really is heart warming to know that Reality TV is providing former Miss USA contestants a way to extend their 15 minutes.

Miss California looks scary. Miss New York looks decent.

Supposedly, they have been estranged ever since she told the family she was gay.
It will be interesting to hear from them as to why they think their relationship will improve by participating on the Amazing Race.

I read that Sarah Reinertsen has an artifical leg!
Ms. California looks like Allison from BigBrother (and TAR).

movieking 07-17-06 06:17 AM

It's always interesting to see who will race, but it is nothing compared to actually watching the first episode. It's hard to get a good read on the teams from what you read in their bios.

How will the Muslim team do their five prayers each day? From what I know about Islam, there are specific times each day they pray too. So, depending on where in the world they are, the times will be different.
Should be interesting.

runner001 07-17-06 08:56 PM

They may not be practicing or strict muslims.

1998Nole 07-17-06 11:40 PM

Does anyone know anything about a team from last season that are in this years Race also?

This is what I read on Yahoo...

Also among the 12 two-person teams, one set of competitors from last season.

That's a typo, apparently.

Hmm, an estranged lesbian daughter and an amputee marathon runner...gives me the idea for...oh, never mind. I've been watching too much pr0n lately. :D

I saw that too on Yahoo and tried to find out about it. Apparently they should have said there are 12 teams this year compared to 11 in previous races.

Achtung 07-18-06 02:32 PM

Over/under on how many episodes it'll be before one of the other teams refers to the Muslim team as "terrorists" or "suicide bombers"? ;)

Definitely can't wait for this one to kick off. Last season was a great return to form for the show.

Even if they did, CBS wouldn't show that. This is a family show and there would be no place for comments like that.

Now if it were Survivor, that would be a different story! ;)

And the insidious plot by Miss USA to take over reality tv continues...

Fok 07-19-06 01:23 AM

Looking forward to this one
