Chappelle's Show -- The Lost Episodes -- starts 7/9/06

Overall, I'd give this a solid "B". A little too self referential, a lot of the material dealt with Chappelle's newfound fame and wealth, But I loved what they did with the intros, and Murphy and Rawlings were good. Sucks that there will only be 2 more of these...

Not too bad at all...the skits are so funny, the material of course would have been more relevant right after Dave got the big contract...now it just makes me sad that he is done... If Comedy Central was smart, they would keep the rest of the team together and try making more skits, they all seem to be into it from everything I have read about them.

I was rolling at Dave Chappelle getting revenge on people.
The one where everybody kept showing their gun was also pretty funny.

$8? That was yesterday's price. It's 11g's now.

So three episodes of whatever they shot is worth $16 on Amazon? That's about an hour of show plus whatever extras. It's coming out on July 25, so they're not wasting any time.

The first ep was ok, but nothing at all like the first two seasons. No wonder Dave didn't want it aired.

Like some professional reviews mentioned, it seemed that even in those skits he did Dave was 'apprehensive' about his windfall. First skit was funny, the rest, ok.

I did like Tupac's "I Wrote This Song Back in 94."

I was laughing pretty hard at the early segment (when everyone tries to shake him down after finding out that he got the big contract). Being petty was also cruel, but funny.

No shit... I have Chappelle in my DVR, they apparently aired it 4 times last night....

Anyway, funny episode... I'd give it a B.

The 2Pac bit was great. The money stuff was funny & they obviously had to go after that... But I just hope they, and the previews make it look like they do, move on with other topics.

Probably the worst episode of the entire series, only a few laugh out loud moments. Hopefully the next two are better.

I thought the episode was funny, but not hilarious. Maybe I was reading too much into it, but Dave's performance had a "the party's over" vibe. Strange that so much of the show had to do with his newfound wealth - one sketch was plenty, but it was clear that he was obsessing over it.

As much as I enjoyed last night's episode, I got the vibe that the skits didn't feel completed at all. As if they edited together whatever they had and aired it, which as we all know, was the case. Unlike Chappelle's past seasons and skits, there was no sort of flow from jokes to punchlines.

A few of the skits were funny but not up to par with the first two seasons. The one where he got revenge on people he thought wronged him was uncomfortably angry and dark (particularly when he pushed the wheelchair-bound club owner down the steps and dropkicked a baby for no reason).

Agreed...did anyone else crack up when Dave started to sing "A Moment Like This"? That part had me rolling

Yeah, this was a great episode. All the skits were really funny, with one (the 2pac skit) being fantastic. Hopefully all the stuff over the next couple episodes will be this good.

Why did they have to talk with the audience for more than half the show?

Maybe watching Dave's interview with Anderson Cooper just poisoned the well for me, but the pixie sketch didn't do anything for me. In fact, the blackface bit that started it off just made me cringe. I can't really blame Dave if that sketch really was what led him down the path to leaving the show.

Not enough material for a whole episode probably. The Pixie sketch was just pieced together clips. It's the reason Chappelle left the show and why he's pissed at Comedy Central for running it.

On the DVD, some of the skits go on longer than they did on air tonight.

- There's more audience interaction to see how people acted to the pixie sketch. When I mean more, I mean around around five fucking minutes more. If you thought it was bad tonight, just wait until you watch it on DVD.

- The second white pixie skit goes on longer when the white pixie begins to insult Donnell and Donnell pisses all over him. The white pixie then begins to insult him even more. With the word choices Chappelle uses during the second round of insults, one can see why Comedy Central chose to edit that bit out (especially at 9pm).

And the only skit on tonight's episode I liked was in fact the black pixie sketch on the airplane.
