Deadwood *Season Premiere* "Tell Your God to Ready For Blood" 6/11/06

Tell Your God to Ready For Blood
Spoiler:
Deadwood's first true elections are approaching, with the offices of sheriff (Bullock vs. Harry Manning, a bartender at Nuttall's Number Ten) and mayor (E.B. Farnum vs. Sol Star) to be contested. Tonight, the candidates are expected to state their case to the townspeople--protocol that unnerves one taciturn incumbent while exciting a more glib one. At the Gem, one of Hearst's Cornish workers is killed, raising Swearengen's suspicions that the incident was a staged Hearst power play. Complications involving Alma's pregnancy alarm Ellsworth and Doc Cochran. Adams' orchestrated foreclosure gives Star a new home, with discreet access next door for Trixie. Jane prepares to share with the camp's children her experiences scouting for General Custer. Dismayed by her inability to make a clean break from the gut-stabbed Tolliver, Joanie contemplates the easy way out. Hearst offers Bullock his political backing in exchange for Bullock's promise to exert influence over certain areas of the camp.

Cocksuckers!

So I've decided to start watching this show tonight since i can never get in on the ground floor of any good show. Would anyone be willing to give me maybe like a bare bones guide of what i should know, or whats happened? I know I should try to watch past seasons, but if anyone is willing I would be appreciative.

Read the above link or just watch the intro, they usually recap everything you need to know up to that point.

How many minutes in before for we here the first "cocksucker"? I say within the first 5 minutes. I can't wait for this showto begin again, it is such a great show, I hope it does not suffer with Milch trying to get to much in this season since this season is essentially its last. (I am not counting the 2-2 hour final episodes.)

I forgot how much I missed Richardson.

I was a bit troubled to learn that Steve has "inserted himself" at the Livery in Hostettler's absence .

It's interesting how Jane started out as a somewhat irritating main character, but since they scaled back her involvement, nearly every scene she's in is pure gold. On the flipside, they can't use Trixie enough. I love when she starts yelling at Sol, and he barely understands 25% of what she's ranting about.

Agreed. Her rant was pure gold, especially the part where she talks about sneaking in and "fucking fucking" Sol. That double fucking was genius, as was Sol's "I thought you went to take a piss."

I hope you could follow this episode, because I've seen them all and I was having trouble for the first half hour. They made sure to cram everybody in there. I guess I should've watched a few reruns before jumping back in.

I thought last season was pretty dull compared to the first, but the end of this episode has me optimistic. The Hearsts sure do have an interesting history.

Joanie was really pissing me off tonight. Why doesn't she just take up with Charlie Udder and call it a day? Jane and Trixie were definitely strong in their limited roles, and Al, as always, makes this show go. "Eggs and bacon. ... Get in the fucking kitchen!"

After one episode, Deadwood already has more momentum than this whole season of the Sopranos did. Whoever nixed the 4th season should be shot and fed to Wu's pigs.

Spoiler:
Can't wait to see Al go to war with Major Dad.

I was rolling when Al knocked on the door and goes "It's Albert Swearengen". There was something just comical about that.

Great opener.

Great start to the season

The sentences Martha was having the kids write down were pretty funny as well

This site counts every fuck for the entire series. The premier had 102 fucks, an average of 1.96 FPM (fucks per minute).
