Chew 06-08-06 06:16 AM

I think I read this series had been sitting on the shelf for nearly a year? Did anyone else hear the same?

That's not going to change the fact that I'll be checking it out. :)

Superman07 06-08-06 06:21 AM

Guess this means no Jerimiah season 3... :(

Sounds interesting though. May check it out - don't recall holding any grudges against NBC at this time.

Jadzia 06-08-06 07:17 AM

I'm going to watch. It doesn't bode well that they are premiering this show in the summer. And Jason Gedrick is in it and we all know he is the kiss of death for a series.

Needless to say, I'm going in to it not expecting to get too attached.

boogieman03 06-08-06 09:21 AM

I'm kinda looking forward to this tonight. I think it's a great concept/idea.

The USAToday review wasn't positive:

Ouch. I've got it set to record. We'll give it a try. If it does not work out, I've got a ton of 4400 episodes to start watching anyway.

Exactly -- I call him "the king of cancellation". BUT, he has been in 3 terrific series of varying short-livedness -- EZ Streets, Murder One and Boomtown. (I didn't watch "Falcone".)

I'm going to watch. :)

I don't put any stock in what Robert Bianco says. Just look at his list of Emmy noms.

At the same time, I'm not expecting much since NBC put it out to pasture in the summer.

to be fair, murder one was retooled after season 1 (I think he only appeared in season 1). He's also been in LAX, North Shore and Boomtown. I still think Paula Marshall or Chris Gorham are right up there in failed series. Together, they brought us Out of Practice.

I will check this out.

It was pretty much average, but I already got tired of the Gedrick/Parilla subplot after 20 minutes. For some reason, most of the "dramatic" subplots seem to be just a hodge-podge of "bad things that happen to lottery winners" without developing interesting characters first.

OldDude 06-08-06 10:15 PM

Average, but better than reruns about covers it.

zebop 06-08-06 10:56 PM

Jason Gedrick and Lana Parilla were on Boomtown together too. Nah, it's way too many people on here, Luke Perry was pretty good though.

I havent seen it yet but this is the network that doesnt even stand behind a great show like Scrubs and stands behind shows like Joey and The Apprentice, so we cant put much stock in their taste.

What happened when they went to the store to buy the tickets? There was some guy there and he pocketed something I think? I didn't get it. I thought he might have gotten the tickets but they all got their money.

The pilot was made over a year ago, well, the original pilot anyway. That was when this was a potential show for FOX, who passed on said pilot. NBC then decided to pick it up, and I'm not sure if they reshot the pilot, or what. Originally, it was going to be a spring launch, but they held it over til the summer.

As for the show, I got the feeling that there was a lot cut from the show, as a lot of the scenes just felt like they ended too early, and the cuts between scenes just seemed to be pasted pooly, the flow of the show suffered, and I think they had way too many storylines set up in one episode (alt6hough I understand you have to get everyone in the pilot).

If the future episodes are more focused, with fewer stories every week, it could work, but I do think they got into the "leeches" too quickly, I think the girl with the baby should have been held over until the next episode or later, as they just seem to be piling too much on the plate.

Not that I expect it to last, but using up these easily built plot devices so early doesn't bode well to future episodes.

So it's like watching a show composed entirely of [lost spoiler]
Spoiler:
Hurley flashbacks
[/lost spoiler]?

Quatermass 06-09-06 01:32 PM

I only made it half way through, then I flipped it over to something else during a commercial and didn't go back. Like twikoff said, I didn't realize it was going to be soapish. I thought it was going to be a different lottery winner every week and show what happens to them, kind of like the old show "The Millionaire."

Patman 06-09-06 02:55 PM

Or the 4400, or in this case, the 19!!! :D

Red Dog 06-10-06 07:34 AM

What can I say - I liked it. A decent amount of eye-candy doesn't hurt.

aktick 06-10-06 01:18 PM

Just watched it...no thanks, way too much going on. And it's good to see that people with f-ed up lives hang out together, because all 19 seem ridiculous. There were also way too many gold-diggers showing up ALREADY.

Patman 06-10-06 09:42 PM

If I won the lottery, as soon as I got the money in the bank, I would be gone, gone, gone. Ain't no one-night-stand going to show up and tell me that's my kid! :D
