I have long noticed this, too!!!!! It seems to just be an odd quirk because the emphasis seems to serve no purpose. (Glad someone finally mentioned it! )

And nearly forgot this as well; that detective character was played by Dennis Cockrum who also played this evil secret agent in Firefly, yet another sci-fi franchise.

God I'm so geeky.

This is one of the few shows I watch and enjoyed every bit of all the episodes I've seen. BTW, what happened with Monica Potter? Why was she let go? Also very sad to see Julie Bowen go.
