Big Love "The Baptism" 5/14/06

Spoiler:
Barb gets an unwanted visit from her sister Cindy, who strongly disapproves of the family's polygamist lifestyle. Meanwhile, as his feud with Roman intensifies, Bill attempts to infiltrate the UEB Priesthood Council. Ben gives his girlfriend Brynn a token of his affection, and is offered a much more significant one in return. A depressed Margene botches her chores, sees a friendship end, and is transformed at Teenie's baptism.

I'm getting a real kick out of Ben. He does what his father tells him to do and then he does what his girlfriend tells him to do and then he does what his Aunt tells him to do and then he gets on his knees and prays that Jesus will tell him what to do and do all his thinking for him.

Seems to me Brynn is better off without him. You know, if she can get over how great he is in the sack. Good lovin' like that don't come along every day.

I enjoy Big Love more and more each week. It is original, compelling, and actually tension filled which you would never expect. Very well rounded characters. I may actually enjoy it more than the Sopranos this year.

I thought this episode was a particulary good example of all the things you said about the show.

Even with so many characters, I feel involved with everyone and care about everyone.

Give the kid a break, it was his first time, most of those suck ass.

Great episode, I love how we are starting to see more and more of the characters personalities. I'm finding that Bill's mom is somewhat of a enigma. She comes off like a superbitch, but there still seems to be a lot more to her. I think she sees the same thing in Bill that her father did.
Its funny I started watching the show because i had lost my remote and was too lazy to get up and change the channel after the Sopranos, and now I almost enjoy Big Love more.

this was another great ep.
i love how one moment is so intense and suspensful (the scene with the off-the-hook phone) and the next scene is full of comedy.

best scene: nikki hauling the dryer outside. "Margene, I swear, sometimes you're worse than a child."
chloe sevingy should get an emmy nomination for this role.

So does HBO not do music credits on their site for Big Love? Trying to find out what the song was playing over the end credits.

When it comes to the family as whole, she usually is...Im glad we got a little more focus on margene, but I just wanted to see Barb kick her sisters ass.

Agreed -- another solid episode this week. Too bad it's only keeping 1/2 the audience of its lead-in...

Sure, but that's usually becase of an EXCESS of enthusaism. Nikki showed more excitement cleaning out the dryer than Ben did fulfilling his unpleasant obligation.

Sin should be fun.

I'm pretty sure it was Gwen Stefani, but I couldn't tell you the song title. Hopefully that points you in the right direction.

I thought it was one of the better episodes of the series, the family story is more interesting then Bill vs Roman.

Really liked the character development of Margene this episode but it appears the neighbor is at least suspicious of her now.

some great quotes from tv.com

Nicki: Margene, you're grounded.
Margie: Excuse me?
Nicki: Or you're on probation. You do not involve our kids in you filthy habits.
Margie: No, no way. You have no authority over me.
Nicki: Authority? Wait just one minute. I'm second, you're third, get it?
Margie: Second's not first. It's nothing.

-----

Margie: I am a terrible wife. I should've never married your father. And your mother.
Sarah: And Nicki.
Margie: Especially Nicki.

Yeah I've thinking about that a lot lately. BIll's parts are almost like background stuff to the Family issues. I think Bill's wives will end up being, if they aren't already, the true stars of the show/series.

Knowing HBO, in 2011.

Maybe that just is the case for Sopranos.

Really? I think she's been one of the most likable characters since about episode 2 or 3. Sure she is blunt but she really seems to care.

Oh and I wouldnt recommend having sex with a virgin(girl) on the floor. Stains are much easier to get out of sheets than they are carpets.

The way she was acting, I would say she was no virgin.
