Penn & Teller: Bull****: Pet Love - 05/08/06

Showtime 9:00pm (repeated one hour later)

BULLSHIT takes its cameras inside the world of extreme pet lovers where we'll meet reptile enthusiasts, show-cats and their owners, and a man who claims to have revolutionized veterinary medicine. We'll visit a woman who shares her home with 25 cats and an artist who creates pet memorials that will blow you away. We'll even get all scientific and figure out why we are biologically attracted to puppies and kittens. Finally, we'll get to the bottom of the diseases our four legged, fine-feathered friends are spreading, like West Nile Virus and Monkeypox. Go ahead love your pet if you feel like it. But c'mon, let's draw the line at rubbing noses and swapping saliva... Now that's doggy BULLSHIT!
Looks like the weakest episode of the season to me.

Next week: Reparations (this one looks quite interesting)

I am hopeful that they knew it when they did it, and have at least made it very funny.

But I can see how they could make a show about how much some people spend on their pets, how people get a little crazy on what is considered animal cruelty, etc.

At least we know that you wont be one of their "assholes".

I really want to see this episode, because I know people who treat their pets far better than any human beings, including all family members. It makes me sick to my stomach how far some people take their "pet love".

And yes, I know that last part sounds really perverted.

I used to hate how they would always go out of their way to bash Christians on the show (I am a Christian myself), but at this point I almost find it funny how far they obviously go out of their way to do so. I wonder what they'll use in this one. My bet is something having to do with the serpent in the Garden of Eden.

Strike "season," replace with "series."

Lessons learned: Don't buy fake doggy testicles, don't be a crazy cat lady (if you're a hoarder, not a rescuer), and don't buy pets that shouldn't be pets. Yikes. I really hope next week is a good one (and it should be), because I've struggled through these last two.

One word sums up this episode best: boring.

All too often they don't have enough time to do a topic justice. This one could have been dispensed with in 5 minutes.

What a waste of a half hour. There wasn't a point, it wasn't really funny, and in some places it was just plain mean. The "glass house" thing at the end was nice, though. Saved me the time of getting pissed about their "starving kids in Africa" argument.

This one was better than Cryptozoology simply for the Woman/Cat/Craziness exponential equation.
