BTW, this episode had a bunch of scenes that went NOWHERE...Tony with the baby, the Iraq soilder meeting Paulie, and the usually terrible Dr. Melfi visit was terrible AND useless

nazz 05-08-06 08:01 AM

I think it's notable too that Christopher was making a point to Tony that he sold all of his wine after the taste they had together but of course fails to mention he was shooting up instead.

Neitzl 05-08-06 08:04 AM

And selling 5 cases of supposed great wine for $300?? Man, he got ripped off.
I was kind of bored with this episode but I did enjoy it. Chris and Tony acting like kids after their little heist was pretty funny.

Charlie Goose 05-08-06 08:29 AM

Adriana's mother has put that thought in Carmella's head about Christopher killing Adriana. Of course, we know that Chris didn't pull the trigger, but he brought it about. I didn't like the fact that we saw Chris' girl, she's pregnant, and they eloped all in the space of about 5 minutes. This was her first appearance, wasn't it?

Funny how Janice was talking about the teacup ride and started massaging her neck and groaning. Tony knew what was coming next. I didn't get Bobby's overreaction to it though. Why did he go nuts on Paulie like that?

firteen88 05-08-06 08:31 AM

boooring. I think the writers ran out of creativity because the past few weeks have cured my insomnia. Oh well.

I thought he started getting pissed when Janice slammed him for not doing anything plus Paulie violated a code when he put Bobby's family at risk.

Because Paulie's cheapness put his child's life in jeopardy. And more importantly, because Janice emasculated him for doing nothing about it in front of everyone at the family dinner.

Numanoid 05-08-06 08:40 AM

 Nice timing. Take your pick, Charlie.

And it is Janice, so every 30seconds she is bitching about her and the baby almost being killed while they are at home.

It never fails to me amaze me... I love an episode, and I come to DVD Talk to see it get bashed. This was one of the more enjoyable shows of the season I think. I love the wine shoot-out.

I liked the "You're doin' a heck of a job, Brownie" line. I guess it's no secret how Chase feels about the President. Pretty good episode overall. I'm wondering if Tony will find out about Chris' relapse before the break (or how it'll play out in general).

heimerSWT 05-08-06 10:33 AM

I kept waiting for Tony to drop the baby when he was throwing her around near the end...I was almost cringing.

I thought that the episode was pretty flat. Lots of promise, but just fell flat. I didn't appreciate the deus-ex-fiancee. A large portion of this season was spent on Vito and yet Christopher's girl makes an appearance, is pregnant, and they get married all within 5 minutes? Considering the impact that she had on him, I was disappointed that we didn't have a build up to this. The "bachelor party dinner" made me feel like an outsider... all the guys knew about her... except me.

The festa scenes were great. It's those scenes (that seem to appear less frequently with each season) that maintain a sense of authenticity. I could smell the freshly fried dough... my heart nearly broke when I saw the cannoli eating contest. < Paulie> Ooooh!< /Paulie> You don't stuff cannolis in your face like dat! They're meant to be enjoyed!!!!

Wow. I'm surprised anyone had something good to say about this episode. It was boring and pointless. Nothing happened. I'm not asking for people to be whacked every week, but shows like the Sopranos need to make each episode count. They have so few episodes that it is not asking a lot to have interesting storylines or plots that actually go somewhere. The show just seems to be wandering around with no direction.

Nesbit 05-08-06 11:38 AM

Uhmm nothing happened?
Christopher is going to be a dad, got married, and got back on Heroin. Carmella has some doubts as to how Adrianna died. Phil is slowly trying to take over the New York family.

What I think some people forget is that this is a show with rich characters and that some of the last 15 episodes are going to be used to say goodbye to the side characters who have been around since the beginning, like the restaurant based episode, and that some of the episodes, like this one, are going to be used to set up the final arc of the major characters.

Unless this post was sarcastic, I'm guessing it was $300,000.

HAHAH, me toooo. I kept waiting for him to have to like grab is gunshot wound in pain and end up dropping the baby.

Also...

Can someone fill me in on the Adrianna story-line? I got the gist of it...but more detail would be fun. Thanks!

mkdevo 05-08-06 11:55 AM

in a season which i consider to be highly above-average (and i think last week's was probably the best so far this season), this episode was a lemon..

right. as was mentioned, the whole chris/dad/fiancee/marrige thing happened in about 5 minutes. the phil thing happened in a 10-second conversation with tony. chris relapsed. great. but they did that 2 episodes ago. only difference was this time they tied it into the chris/tony relationship angle.. and the carm/ade thing also took up very little of the episode..

like someone else mentioned, there were a lot of scenes that went absolutely nowhere.. sure, there were things that 'happened', but they happened very quickly, and the rest of the episode just felt like pointless filler..

I loved it when Janice had the NeckBrace on, I hate her so much.

I never would have guessed $300,000! I also thought he got a measley three hundred, and I was trying to figure out why anyone would risk their lives for that kind of money.

Three hundred thousand, however, puts it in a new perspective.

Somebody's got to explain this one to me. I don't get it.

I don't think I quoted it correctly. Nevertheless, this was the reference:

"Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job." —President George W. Bush, to FEMA director Michael Brown, who resigned 10 days later amid criticism over his job performance, Mobile, Ala., Sept. 2, 2005
