Hopefully there's a Mr. Short-Term Memory skit.

I also hope there's a Mr. Short-Term Memory skit.

And what's up with the last two shows he hosted not featuring a Mr. Short-Term Memory skit?!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus ('82-'85) is the only female alum of SNL to come back as a host.

Please let Lindsay Lohan be the music guest. Please let Lindsay Lohan be the music guest.

She's so multitalented and Lorne obviously likes clogging up the show with her particular brand of nontalent.

I've been up for the last 48 hours straight working on a project... I hope I'm awake enough to see this ep. I'm quite excited for it.*

Haven't seen the RHCP on SNL since I was in High School.

* If not, at least I'll have it TiVoed!

As much as I'd like to see that (not!) I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it looks like the closing musical act for the 2005-06 season is...

NELLY FURTADO!*

* She has an album coming out soon that is produced by the Timbas... Justin Timberlake and Timbaland.

Well, RHCP can't be as bad as they were last time they were on SNL.

And as usual, one good skit to start off, and the show goes downhill in a hurry.

I agree - dumb contestants on games shows are one thing, but Celebrity Jeopardy took it a whole new level. This was just predictable, and not that funny IMHO.

I did laugh at the digital short though.

I passed out during the Wheel of Fortune skit, but then woke up for the weekend update. I guess I'll check my recording for whatever I missed.

Interesting choice for the 2nd RHCP song. Frusciante is tearing it up.

RHCP kicked ass. Couldn't believe they broke out Give it Away for their 2nd song rather than something else off Stadium Arcadium. Pleasant surprise.

I hadn't seen them live in ages (even on TV), was amazed that they still jumped all over stage etc. just like they did 15 years ago.

This was a . Nothing sidesplitting, but quite a few good laughs and Tom Hanks is an excellent host. And I don't usually watch the musical guests, since I don't even know who most of them are, but I love RHCP and they were fantastic.

George W. Bush
Starts out with Cheney & Bush, then TH comes in as Frist with a Senate Gas Plan. A little long, but okay.

Monologue
Great one. TH takes questions from the audience about DaVinci Code, but the first question is about his hair of course. A bishop tells him he will burn in hell. Hader was an excellent creepy albino monk. Dratch as the flying nun; the pope was there with a script; and Sudeikis as Jesus Christ forgiving TH not for DaVinci, but for The Terminal. Well played. TH points out that Sudeikis is the new guy, poking fun at Jesus AND Spielberg.

Wheel of Fortune
TH as Sajak and Tina Fey as Vanna. Three idiot contestants can’t get the puzzle with one letter left, so TH insults them. Not much to it, but performed well by Poehler, Armisen, and Wiig.

Caitlin
The hyperactive child. She’s excited about babysitting for a hippie TH’s pet iguana. Sanz as her stepfather, and can barely keep a straight face as usual.

Digital Short
It’s 1991 and we see TH and Samberg as a Right Said Fred-type group singing about not abusing their testicles. I’m assuming Samberg writes these, since he stars in every one, and they are very hit and miss. This one missed.

Universal Studios
TH and Armisen are standing in line for the Back to the Future ride and calling to their mother, Dratch, as she wanders around confused. It was pretty funny, as they both shouted “MA!” a hundred times.

Weekend Update
Some good jokes. Kennedy’s medication is “Tylenol JD”, David Blaine submerging himself for a week to set the record for shriveliest penis, and The View with Rosie O’Donnell will now be titled The Obstructed View. Sanz on as Rosie for no reason and no laughs. Armisen & Forte come on for an immigration debate where they just sing YA for two minutes.

Yoga
A reluctant Dratch teaming up with a scuzzy TH for yoga exercises. He disgusts her with inappropriate talk and a lot of sweat. Poehler as the yoga instructor even started laughing as TH dripped sweat into Dratch’s face. Funny.

Colin’s Place
WTF was this? A Sanford & Son parody with Colin & Michael Powell. TH comes in from the state department hoping for help with Iran. Rudolph as Condoleeza Rice doing Aunt Esther. Terrible. The only laughs from the audience were the I’m-here-live-so-I-might-as-well-enjoy-this-shit laughs.

Tennis
Snooty tennis players Forte & TH break up their team because TH only has one arm. Forte brings in a 3-armed player, so TH responds with a new partner with seven arms. Bizarre.

Very much looking forward to JLD and Spacey for the next two.

I have learned something. Charlie Goose is way more forgiving than I am.

And I liked the Peppers first song much more when it was called Last Dance with Mary Jane and Tom Petty sang it.

What was with that? 4 seconds into the song I thought, "Wow, they are covering Petty."
