dark angel, how is it as a blind buy?

The basics I know is that James Cameron produced, and Jessica Alba (who i have the hots for) stars, is the show any good to be worth a $20 blind buy at amazon?

I bought it about a year ago when is was $14.99 and before I was through with Season 1 I ordered Season 2 for twice that amount from DDD. The only problem is that the series ended too soon. It left me wanting more and I almost felt like I wish I hadn't started what couldn't be properly concluded.

almost. :)

I LOVED the show, it ended too soon but a very good show, not perfect but very entertaining and great production values, and one of the best looking shows. Looks like a movie, the sets are probably the most detailed I ever seen in a tv show. worth the money. Plus the series finale is directed by James Cameron

Watch season 1 and just pretend that season 2 doesn't exist; that's what I do.

Rex Fenestrarum 05-04-06 11:35 PM

^^^ Agreed. Season 2 sucked, but I really enjoyed Season 1... especially seeing Jessica Alba in leather pants!

The only reason I could reccommend watching this is to see Jessica Alba's ass a lot in tight pants. I bought the first season when it was really cheap a while ago and thought it was terrible, with special emphasis on bad acting.

I highly recommend this show. The second season had some weak moments, but also had several of the best stand-alone episodes of the entire series. It was fun, Alba is hot, and concept was very good.

ive noticed that this is one of those shows that's full frame in region 1 and in widescreen overseas, which is generally prefered?

maingon 05-05-06 01:53 PM

i would say if you can get the widescreen

fujishig 05-05-06 02:10 PM

Was it shot in widescreen, though, or was it (ick) chopped up for the European release?

Bluebomber 05-05-06 02:28 PM

I bought it as a blind buy myself and found to my surprise I really liked it, interesting story and villian and as said Alba is hot as hell in it. Talking about season 1, haven't found season 2 cheap enough to take the plunge considering how badly it is talked about.

maingon 05-05-06 03:20 PM

fox offered it in there enhanced widescreen before fox went to hd

Slayer2005 05-05-06 04:30 PM

You can't go wrong with 16 hours of Jessica Alba for only $20.

from what i have understood, it'll be personal preference since apparently there's alot of dead space on the sides, and was framed for 4x3. but if the pal speedup isn't too bad, i might bite the bullet and buy that version, since for an action show, widescreen would look better imo.

Season 1

Season 2

I originally bought this series as a blind buy and I couldn't have been happier with season 1. While season two is definately a little hard to sit through at times, it does have its moments and I'm happy to say that the end of the series is not a traditional cliff-hanger... there is nothing that MUST be wraped up left, which is nice.

I bought both seasons today at fye as a "buy one season, get another free" deal they have there. Both were 39.99, so it was a no brainer for me. hope, i made the right decision, and didnt' let a hot chick on a crappy show make me waste 40 bucks.

It's definitely no Buffy, Alias or Veronica Mars, but it's pretty good.
